The Real Wedding of Julia & Harry

Julia & Harry 's Wedding Story

In the past, we visited the Montagu Arms with family on many occasions. So it was always on our minds as a potential wedding venue. The last time we visited for a meal was around Christmas when it won us over. The hotel, with all its lovely sparkling bauble bauble decorations and smell of firewood smouldering, perfectly captured the classic cosy Christmas feel we were trying to achieve. And as advocates for the service and quality of food, we didn't hesitate much longer to book it.
The Dress
We kept everything very simplistic and classic. I ordered my wedding dress from a lovely tailor abroad. Once I received it, a local tailor assisted in further alterations. The only accessories I wore were sparkly earrings which matched my shoes; by Dune. To elevate my look and add something special, I planned to get very subtle hair gems stuck to my hair just enough so you caught a glimpse of sparkle when the light was just right. Amy from the angle hair boutique did my hair and helped with the gems.

Harry's jacket was by Ralph Lauren, with a tailor helping with alterations and custom-made bottoms. We thought the tartan suited the season and location well. The shoes were loafers by Hawes and Curtis. The whole outfit was rounded with a classic watch, bow tie and black buttoned white shirt.
The Flowers
We had Jo Hicks assist us with our floral arrangements. Our decor was kept simple since we had all the lovely Christmas decorations. To not overwhelm the feel of the room, we decided to go with wintery evergreens, thistle, eucalyptus, pine, gypsophila and some white roses here and there. And throughout, of course, candles in varying sizes.
The Decor
British, classic, winter and Christmas. And everything we associate with these themes; a cosy intimate feeling with good food and good company. The Montagu Arms fitted right in.
The Food
We went for the 'Petit gourmet package', including a seven-course tasting menu with wine pairing. We were given plenty of choices in picking precisely the experience we wanted. And sure enough, the head chef created a superb wintery menu for our party, with seasonal produce from the local area.
The Photographer
We booked our photographer very late. But we are so glad we decided to do it in the end. We had our pictures taken by Adela from Adela Photography. She was absolutely amazing, practically invisible and everywhere at once. And the pictures really speak for themselves. Beautiful.
The Wedding Cake
Our friend kindly provided the cake. We went for a naked styled Wedding cake with some floral decorations that matched the table with our favourite flavour; Carrot cake.
The Best part of the Day
The best part of the day for us was when we sat down for our meal and the whole duration. It was the winding down of a busy afternoon- good food, surrounded by all of the most important people we had wanted to share the day with, in a beautiful setting, after just having married my best friend.
