The Real Wedding of Casey & Glenn

Casey & Glenn's Wedding Story

HAZEL GAP BARN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY – CASEY AND GLENN

A few weeks back I was at the fantastic ‘becoming the Bill’s’ wedding – Casey and Glenn were married at the stunningly beautiful and characterful Hazel Gap Barn Wedding Venue located on the Welbeck Estate here in Nottingham.

My day started at the home of Casey and Glenn, where Casey, her Mum and Bridesmaids were getting ready for Casey’s big day.

The morning of a wedding gives you a good idea of how the wedding will go and the vibe I got from the girls in the morning was that this was going to be a great day and when we get to the disco – all hell is going to break loose!

Once the girls were done with hair and make-up (shout out to Charlotte with the make-up LINKY) and the flowers had been delivered, it was time for me to make my way to the Hazel Gap Barn the location of the wedding ceremony and the after-show party.

It wasn’t long after I arrived that Glenn and his Groomsmen pulled up, parked up and started to meet and greet the guests arriving for their laid back wedding.

The wedding ceremony room at Hazel Gap Barn is stunning, no other way to describe it. Big beautiful windows in the middle of the barn, big high beamed roof with masses of character – perfect for some fantastic wedding photos.

Once the guests were in and Glenn had set himself at the front of the barn, where I got my favourite ‘Groom looking nervous’ picture it was time for the girls to make their entrance before Casey and her Mum walked down the Aisle.

The ceremony was beautiful (even if there were Liverpool FC references…) the lighting from the big windows gave us some dramatic light which is shown off in the B&W photos below.

After the ceremony, it was outside for the confetti run, the Champagne drinks and the canapes.

After a few family formal pictures, it was time for the food and speeches.

The wedding speeches is the part of the day where you find out about the bride and groom, their story, their families and the good and bad times that they have been through.

Glenn was first and nailed his speech, didn’t skip a beat and covered every emotion you could think of. The story of Glenn’s battle with his stutter was inspirational to listen too and had a lot of people in tears.

Next up was Glenn’s best man who started with a joke which fell utterly flat that it had everyone laughing – classic!

Any wedding booked in August can expect the weather to be windy, rainy and downright cold – but for once It was perfect; with the wedding guests enjoying the courtyard in the early evening sunshine.

Casey and Glenn had booked a Live Band for their evening entertainment which kicked off with the first dance surrounded by their family and friends back in the main barn.

For me, every wedding should have a Live Band; they add so much more to the evening, there is always a buzz that you get from a Live Band which is sometimes missing from a DJ, and this band got it bang on!

The band played great song after great song which meant the dance floor was never empty – people doing the splits, moonwalks, body popping – we had everything, one of the best wedding discos I have seen in a long while.

Casey and Glenn had booked me to be their Hazel Gap Barn wedding photographer because of my informal & relaxed wedding photography style and as you can see from the photos below, my style allows the wedding guests to relax and enjoy the wedding without a bossy photographer telling everyone what to do!
