Wedding Singers for the Wealthy

Written by Emily Casswell on 14th October 2009

How much would you pay for a wedding band? A few hundred maybe for a good wedding singer? How about £5 million? UKbride’s Emily Casswell blows the budget…

Living TV has this week published a list of the world’s most expensive wedding performers. Top of the list are The Rolling Stones who charge £5 million a wedding… hopefully not trashing your honeymoon suite afterwards.

In 2002 the ageing rock band charged the tidy sum to play a 90 minute set for a private wedding in America... that’s £926 a second!

Elton John

Elton John comes up second in the list. He charged £1.5 million in 2001 at a private party. Although, the pop icon does donate all earnings for private concerts to his charity, The Elton John AIDS foundation.

The list is in O2 Arena proportions…

1. The Rolling Stones = up to £5 million
2. Sir Elton John = up to £2 million
3. Kylie Minogue = up to £2 million
4. Christina Aguilera = up to £1.5 million
5. George Michael = £1.3 million
6. Amy Winehouse = £1 million
7. Sir Paul McCartney = £1 million
8. Leona Lewis = £1 million
9. Jennifer Lopez = £1 million
10. Barry Manilow = £750,000

Rolling Stones

In case your budget will stretch to any of the above, there’s an additional caveat… that of the rider sheet. This is the list of demands from each celebrity which must be fulfilled in addition to their remuneration.

Justin Timberlake insists the hotel’s air conditioning filters be changed before he arrives and Madonna requires the presence of 12 dozen strawberries, Kabbalah-made water and a skipping rope before she’ll place even a high heel on stage.

Britney requires a constant supply of Pop Tarts

Don’t worry though… all is not lost… X-Factor finalists JLS only want £20,000 for a personal appearance… phew!
