Colette jumped over the moon when she bought a wedding reception on ebay for just £51

So imagine the elation of Colette Palin when she found a wedding reception on Ebay. “I couldn’t believe I could bag a wedding for just £51!” said Miss Palin.
“We had a late cancellation in May, and with very little chance of re-selling the date, so we thought we’d do something special,” said Jason Petty, the general manager of Buckatree Hall, a three star hotel near Telford.

Jason explained “We’ve found that many couples are post-poning their weddings because of the recession, and wanted to help, so we put the reception on Ebay for a £1. The intention was to find someone who truly deserved it. A lot of people have been hit hard by the credit crunch, so it’s fantastic that we had the chance to help this couple. Lee had lost his job, thankfully he is back in work now, but it was brilliant to be able to lend a hand to a couple who needed it.”
After the wedding the bride and groom, Colette and Lee, enjoyed a red carpet arrival, followed by a champagne reception then a three-course meal which was washed down with wine.
The wedding reception was put on ebay for £1 initially, and ended on £51.“I was stunned that nobody went any higher. Perhaps not that many people are getting married at the moment.” Said Colette, “you can’t really put a price on your big day but not having the worry of being saddled with debt afterwards has really helped us enjoy our day.”
