Why You Should ‘Minimoon’ in Leeds After Your Wedding

Leeds is a really beautiful city and if you’ve lived here your whole life, this idea may not be too appealing but trust us – there is so much to see and do in Leeds, it’s worth taking three or four days after your wedding just to relax and enjoy the city!

Minimoons are super popular at the moment. Weddings are kind of expensive – the average cost is about £25,000 to £30,000 – so when you dream of honeymooning to the Maldives or St Lucia and the price tag that comes with it, you end up feeling a lot more stressed rather than relaxed. If you space the honeymoon payments and wedding payments out though, it doesn’t feel so bad and makes it all a little more affordable.

However, you still need a little break after the wedding just to relax and spend time with your loved one and we recommend doing it right in the centre of Leeds especially if you’ve just tied the knot here! It’s a great weekend getaway with tonnes of date night ideas from cabaret to coffee with kittens! Here are some of our favourite romantic ideas.

Explore Harewood House

This is quickly becoming one of Leeds’s biggest attractions. Walk hand in hand with your new husband/wife along the edges of the 32-acre tropical lake, smell the flowers in the colourful gardens bursting with blue poppies, rhododendrons and golden daffodils, and even feed the penguins in the Bird Garden! It’s a great idea for a date day!

Sip Cocktails at the Sky Lounge

After Harewood House, head out for drinks. The Sky Lounge is a gorgeous cocktail bar on the 13th floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton. It has breathtaking views of the incredible city you both tied the knot in, and it also offers a delicious menu including poached lobster tail fettuccine and steak frites. Enjoy yourselves!
