Six Incredible Leeds Landmarks to Use in Wedding Photos

Getting married in Leeds city centre? Wanting to show off the best of the city in your photos? Here are six amazing backdrops you can use on your wedding day to always cherish the location you married in…

1. Leeds Town Hall

This phenomenal building looks like something out of Rome or Greece. Leeds Town Hall was built in the mid-1800s and planned to include law courts, a council chamber, public hall, ceremonial entertaining rooms and municipal offices. Today it hosts art exhibitions, comedy shows, music and drama. If you’re familiar with Leeds, chances are you’re familiar with this building right in the centre.

2. Victoria Leeds

This is a shopping centre in the middle of Leeds. It combines the 1990 Victoria Quarter (pictured) with a much more modern but similarly styled Victoria Gate shopping centre built in 2016. Both areas are absolutely stunning and are tourist destinations in themselves never mind the shops that line the arcades. Find more info out about it here.

3. Leeds Corn Exchange

Walk inside this beautiful building and be blown away. The Grade I listed building built in 1863 is most well known for its incredibly ornate ceiling, flooding the space with natural light. However, the colourful doors that line the outskirts also grab the eye and would make a great backdrop for a dramatic wedding photo.

4. Central Square Leeds

For something for the more modern couple, Central Square Leeds is an imposing and business-like front. It’s comprised of offices but the front and main entrance feels like something in a space age light years from now. It would look really different in photos and certainly portray a city centre feel.

5. Leeds General Infirmary

The general infirmary in Leeds is a teaching hospital and part of the NHS. It’s reminiscent of the Natural History Museum in London with its intricate attention to detail and ‘Hogwarts’ like style. This would be a fantastic backdrop for couples in the medical industry! It’s one of the most beautiful hospitals in the UK.

6. Broadcasting Place

Our final Leeds wedding photo backdrop has to be Broadcasting Place. You’ll see this for miles in Leeds with its rusty and unique look. It’s a university building designed by Stirling prize-winning architect Feilden Clegg Bradley. It really is unique and great for couples looking for something different or perhaps couples who met at university!
