4. York Museum Gardens

Why not simply combine the last two places and visit the York Museum Gardens? There, you will be able to take photos in and around the abbey, in front of the museum AND in the gorgeous gardens that surround the two. If you’re tying the knot at the right time of year, you will be surrounded by beautiful blooms.

6. Barley Hall

This is a reconstructed medieval townhouse built in around 1360. It’s reminiscent of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre with its wooden beams and white walls. If you’re into history, perhaps you’re having a themed wedding, or you just want somewhere of importance to feature in your photos; Barley House is a great choice.

Built in an early Georgian style and open since 1732, the York Mansion House is the home of the Lord Mayors of York during their time in office. It’s right in the city centre, so easily reachable, and has rather grand state rooms for Downton Abbey-styled photos.
