Welcome to Askham Hall, an exclusive use Lake District wedding venue for up to 150 guests, with 19 luxurious bedrooms. Incorporating a 13th Century Country House and picture perfect gardens with a rustic barn, we offer a bespoke service tailored to your dream celebrations.

The village of Askham itself is a rewarding first impression, with quaint houses, St Peters Church, and the river Lowther bumbling along the outskirts. Tucked away down a leafy drive sits Askham Hall, an historic estate blending modern elegance with rustic charm, providing a retreat for unique celebrations of between 2 and 150 guests.

With a dedication to seasonality, sustainability, and homegrown ingredients, our focus on farm-to-table menus offers a culinary journey to ignite conversation. Intimate weddings have the experience of our Michelin-starred restaurant within the Hall, and our wedding barn menus are equally matched on emphasizing the very best produce to celebrate the changing seasons. So, whether you have 2 or 150 guests, you can enjoy an unforgettable dining experience.

The sweeping lawns, lovingly maintained gardens, cosy indoor spaces, and large historic barn with exposed stone walls, traditional oak beams and twinkling lights provide the options for your perfect day - right through from saying I do to partying into the night.

For yours, and your guest’s accommodation, we have 19 bedrooms at Askham Hall. In addition, there are several pubs nearby, including The Queens Head (5minute walk) with 6 bedrooms and the George and Dragon (10minute drive) with 11 rooms. All are dog-friendly.

When your special day comes, our on-site wedding co-ordinators (who you will have got to know during the process) will be ready to greet you with the access to the barn from 12noon the day before your wedding to put those perfect touches in.

Sustainability Statement
Year on year we set business goals that include strategies focussed around the following criteria:
• Removing single use plastics and reducing our use of paper across our business with guests and B2B
• Constantly review and improve our waste management and recycling strategies, with all staff trained on the importance of recycling
• Reducing the carbon footprint of our business operation
• All kitchen food waste is composted
• All vegetables and some fruits come from our gardens, and meat from our farms
• We have a pond with a duck and geese habitat, creating a positive ecosystem
• We source local suppliers wherever possible to reduce food miles
• We use local contractors wherever possible
• We have a water borehole on site, only extracting what is needed
• We use only eco friendly chemicals and cleaning materials
• Introducing electric car charging stations across our establishments
• We have a sound limiter in the barn to reduce noise pollution and annoyance to neighbours

The most phenomenal wedding venue & team 💕

We booked Askham on the spot on our first tour of the venue. It was the only venue we looked at and fell in love instantly. Askham is naturally stunning but the wedding team is what really makes it. The communication, guidance, support, advice and flexibility was amazing. We had the most incredible wedding day and genuinely would not change a single thing, this is thanks to the team at Askham. The beauty of the grounds, character of the house and romance of the barn are beyond words.

The team at Askham hall were absolutely amazing. Our wedding co-ordinator Katherine went above and beyond, was there to answer any silly questions and ensured the smooth running of the day. The perfect venue for our weekend

From our first visit to Askham Hall we knew it was the venue for us. Everything about it was perfect. Having the entire place to ourselves and also being able to have the bbq the night before was amazing. It meant the wedding was an entire weekend rather than just one day. It may have rained for us but the venue is so stunning inside that it didn’t really matter. Our gorgeous photos truly speak for themselves. We can’t wait to come back for anniversaries in the future.

Our day was just perfect! The venue was beautiful and we fell in love from the moment we first walked in for our viewing. Staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect from start to finish. Becca was our wedding coordinator and listened to everything we had visioned and made it happen! The day ran smoothly and allowed our guests and us as the bride and groom to feel at ease. Perfect venue

Askham Hall is has everything we want for a wedding venue. They have received a Michelin star within their restaurant so you know the food is great, the venue is picturesque both in the barn and the main house/scenery. The women I have been dealing with are always so friendly and with everything going on they have kept our spirits high!
