My shoes have arrived and although quite comfortable already I feel I should wear them around the house as much as I can. Is it bad luck for him to see me in them? It's just the dress that's unlucky isn't it?

I reckon you don't want to be breaking in a pair of shoes on your wedding day! Sounds uncomfortable, even if they're comfy for the first 10 minutes.

I also read you should 'scuff' the soles a bit, with sandpaper or something, makes you less likely to slip.

Its only the dress as far as I know, My H2B has seen both my pairs of shoes (I'm a shoe freak, and have more pairs than outfits, and I found some stunning electric blue ones, but realised that they may be a little high heeled, for a long period of time, so I bought some more sensible White satin ones too) :) Breaking in shoes, and scuffing up the soles are both incredibly good ideas,

I always need to break in shoes - I find them very difficult even if they are the most comfortable of shoes to start with - thanks for that and I will go and get them from under the bed and start wearing them now! I'll be looking for the sandpaper too.

I could wear my wedding dress in front of Pidge and he wouldn't notice. So if hes anything like Pidge- don't worry about the shoes!

glad it's not just me and I was thinking it would probably take him a while to notice I was wearing them! I made the mistake of telling the messengers at work that I was expecting shoes and they weren't to put them on my desk. They arrived today and thankfully I was sitting there so was able to take them back off the desk straight away

    From Wikipedia:

A common superstition is that bad luck will come to a person who places shoes on a table, whether in the form of causing a family argument, or risking death to a family member. In the world of theatre, putting shoes on a dressing room table is considered by some to bring the risk of a bad performance, just as "Break a leg!" is considered good luck.

Also described as an old wife's tale, the superstition may date back to medieval times. Some sources ascribe the origin to the fact that criminals were hanged while still wearing their shoes. It may have something to do with death, and the idea of placing a new pair of shoes on the table would signify that someone had just died, or you would have bad luck for the rest of the day, quarr.el with someone or lose your job.

Even among people who are not superstitious, shoes can be associated with contamination
