    Hey everyone

When i was 11 i had a very serious convulsion which doctors confirmed was Epilepsy. They wanted to monitor me before giving me medication and it wasnt till a year later that i had another very serious one. The hospital gave my dad the choice of putting me on meds for life but between us we decided not to take it and see what happend. I never had another one again and it was confirmed i had grown out of it which is common-esp for girls.
Over the years since my last fit i started getting migraines which started with a da ja vu like experience (strange i know! lol) and was prescribed migraine meds. On Saturday morning after bathing my daughter i had an "episode" which resulted in me passing out, luckily my daughter shouted my partner and he helped me out.
I visited my doctor yesterday and after nearly 15yrs since my last fit it has been confirmed i have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (which my doc thinks ive always had) and suffer complex seizures. Im so pleased i have finally got an answer to my very strange "episodes" lol and my h2b finds it very odd as he has Epilepsy too :)

Just wanted to share my story and wondered if anyone else has Epilepsy? x

I havent got it myself but when i was 6 i remember my sister being carried down the stairs on a streacher at 3 in the morning.
She was on tablets for about 5 years but grew out of it. Shes 34 now and hasnt had a fit since she was 12.

Yeah Alsbetty-should have come to you ages ago! lol I went to various doctors before who thought i was mad! Going to hospital first then getting my meds.

Im now 25 so i dont think i'll grow out of it now :( I came as quite a shock but im just so relieved. We are however slightly worried as w both have it and im scared i'll have a seizure while h2b's at work or he will have a convulsion-im sure we'll be fine though :) x

I was diagnosed with eplilepsy after a very bad bang on the head at 11 years old. I've had fits in all sorts of places, including a 30ft yacht 11 miles out at sea, whilst doing the tall ships race.

I was mortified during my gcses, as i kept having convulsions.

I've now grown out of it, and not had a fit for around 13 years. I'm now not taking any medication and even have a driving license. My license is only ever valid for three years, after that time i have to get a doctors note and it gets re issued. xx

Yes I had the same thing. I had my first convulsion at 17 months old and had five or six every year till I was around 10 years old. Touch wood since then I haven't had another one. My mum and her mum had it and so on. So I will be cautious if I have a little girl as she may have it. xxx

Yeah I'm epileptic. Having time without meds after my son was born. I have what they used to call Petit mals alot still but haven't had a seizure for over a year. I was born with it. Its making me cautious about discos for my wedding but if there is no strobes I'll be fine.

Thanks guys! Well i had another "episode" while out shopping today, it wasnt as bad but very scary as i was on my own with the kids (one is 3 the other 20wks) so i made a doc appt as the doc i saw yest told me to see him asap if anything else happend. I couldnt see him so had to see a different doctor who was horrible-she made me feel really stupid and told me i wasnt "important" enough as i wasnt having convulsions just blackouts. Anyway ive been prescribed Carbmazapine (under the direction of the lovely doc i saw yest) so fingers crossed i'll see a difference x
