So, I'm toying with the idea of having me and my maids to a silly choreographed dance to 'single ladies' by Beyonce. Half of me is disgusted with myself for even thinking it and half of me thinks it would be fun. We're all singers/dancers so it wouldn't be terrible, i just think it might be something to do, weddings can be soooooo boring!!!

    What do you think...?

my h2b wants to do this, i watched a few videos on youtube and i liked the idea to begin with, but it seems that everyone's dong it and if you dont get it right it looks really shite. iv said im not doing it now and i dont care what he says! i like the idea of doing it with bridesmaids though, id consider it if i had enough of them! and if your all dancers then it'l be great-go for it!! x

i say go for it, anything to wake everyone up, i think that kind of thing is funny. we will be doing all the chessy dance out there to get the guest on the dance floor ,such as candy, triller, ymca, macarena. lol. then we will get back to normal dancing

It does seeem to have become a massive 'trend' which puts me off a little....but i also think people definately need 'waking up'!!! only have 2 maids so it would be just like the video....NOT!

i think it's been done too much now and people kind of expect something like that so we won't be, but because of how we are usually people will be surprised that we won't do something like that especially Al haha x

If you want to do it at the disco/evening reception - then go for it absolutely.

If you want to do it at the start of the ceremony, I would say no - I think this does genuinely need to be a solemn occasion - in particular to make hubby feel married

I love some in youtube, but true, that some are rubbish! I was looking at them last night, and have been toying with the idea, but it is getting overdone a bit now! Will suggested Carlton dancing from the fresh prince, funny funny!

Yes, yes, yes so it's been done.....but I haven't ever been to a wedding that has done it like you mrsmada. so maybe it isn't so 'overdone' and also me and my girls are fierce! So actually it'll be amazing! I'm getting more and more sure all the time!!!

In response to Cece, it might have been done to death, but how many weddings do people attend in their lives? Not that many I'm guessing, so maybe the guests haven't actually seen something like this live, which, if choreographed properly, coupled with happy guests, can work very well and be highly enjoyable for all.

In response to the 'Wedding Supplier' ... well until these dances are chorographed properly and are not something ALOT of people are second guessing to happen I will continue to believe they have been 'done to death'...which is entirely my perogative.

MrsM...the thing is with me is I have my opinion, I voice it...and if people choose to do what they want (as I do!) then fab...an opinion doesn't have to change plans!

...I think it is cool you have a 'seatret' plan..lets hope the ROCK or are soooooooooooooo bad and can laugh at themselves everyone thinks 'fair play to them!!!

CeCe - Its good to have an opinion, otherwise there would be no discussions and no forum - sorry if I offended you with the "done to death" bit , it was never my intention!

We'll probably just end up doing silly dances, like the birdie song in the middle of our field. We'll all look strange together! xx

I agree that there seem to be a lot of them about, but I think if you and your bridesmaids are all singers and dancers then it would be a massive shame NOT to do something a bit different for your wedding!

If it's done well, then I think it'd be a great 'pick-me-up' for your guests, and start off the evening thing with a bang.

Me and my h2b are singers/dancers so we'll be doing something funny - we're gonna do "single ladies" as well!!!!

We're plannin on doing the actual routine but with a bit of comedic value in it!!

Then the bms and ushers will be joinin us for the last chorus!

    :) xxx

My H2B has mentioned this but I wanna keep to the traditional 1st dance!!

But I've never been to a wedding with one done and I dont know anyone that has been to a wedding with one. If you and your girls are trained dancers then do what you do best!!

    xx

b2bnicola - FAB!! I'm just doing it with my 2 maids so we're ripping the routine straight from the video! I spoke to the girls and they're well up for it and.....

Drnchpunk - i think you're right it would be a shame not to use what i've got!

Raquel007 - I'm not doing it as my first dance, just going to do it later on when everyone's drunk and getting a bit bored!

PS loving the conflicting opinions ladies, keep up the good work! Ha!

Yeah me and my h2b are plannin to start with me like doing the routine obv saying that im still single so he'll be like keep having to put my arms down - but then he joins in (with his lil gay face that he puts on) and then towards the end all bms and ushers will have joined in :) xxx

My H2B wants to do something along the lines of the "I Like Big Butts" dance that was featured on Youtube but I've completely veto'd against it. I'm a bit self concious when it comes to dancing and I feel like I'll look stupid.

So I want to stick with the traditional first dance and get dancing lessons instead of the usual first shuffle I've seen at a lot of weddings I've been to lately.

trying to get mine to do a traditional 1st dance is hard enough,
but if you can dance and want to do a routine i think the choice is yours, they have to watch whatever it is anyway so lets entertain them :)
