started off pushing the wedding back so i could afford it - because i fell in love with a venue that i had to have - know i am really thinking i was being completely over the top and irrational and starting at the bottom again with everything.
bye bye wedding weekend, hello budget hotel!
know i am being silly cause i was in way over my head with the budget in the first place - who spends £15000 on one day right? especially when i am the only one working and only just covering bills.
just been doubting everything lately and this is the final blow.

    :'( well sad today.

Hey NMH... Don't trade down! If you can save enough each month to pay for it it 2 years' time then DO IT!

YOUR DAY, YOUR WAY. Don't be sad, have the day of your dreams. Your H2B will be earning once his training is over and then you can use his money too!

    Chin up chuck :o)

:( i don't like it when people are sad! yeah £15,000 on one day sounds a lot, but its the only wedding day you will ever have so you might as well go for it and have no regrets. if the venue is really important to you then you could save on other things to make up for it. my venue is over my budget too but i realised i can save hundreds my having cheap invertations (i don't really care what they look like i don't see them once i've sent them out!) and asked my BM's to buy their own stuff (they might as well if their keeping dresses etc anyway) etc etc xxx

have really cut down to the necessities! having dresses made by nanna in law, men wearing black suits which they all have and not having cars cause venue is all in one. dan's an artist so we are doing the invites ourselves and we are asking for contributions from guests staying at the venue so that saves us £2000 but there was so much i hadnt thought of - like the bar and glass hire and public liability insurance! have cut the guest list down to the bare essentials too!
i need to save £530 a month to be able to do it and i only earn £800! so after bills, rent and food I have £50 left and that goes on my credit card and phone! and i have a £1250 over draft to pay off from uni.
    :(

eek that is a bit tight. i don't know what else to suggest...also, what is public liabilty insurance, do i need to have that?? lol. could you try looking for another venue that is still special just not costing as much? £15,000 to a budget hotel is a big gap i'm sure you can find something inbetween? xx

It looks lovely!!!! OK, so look at it like this... Is it DEFINITELY the venue of your dreams! I mean have you looked at every other option that could possibly be just as good or even better? Because if you can honestly say that you exhausted all options then I think (just personally) I would go for it and have the venue. Get a second job or ebay everything within reach that is not stuck down, just to afford it! Then have a think about anything that can be cut back on on the day, like maybe a friend with an artistic knack could photograph the wedding? You could even have a laugh practicing before hand for an engagement shoot? :o)
