Went to see the venue today and was sooo disappointed. 1st- Made the appointment last week spoke to someone who took all the details i.e numbers, dates, names, e-mail etc. Got there and the woman was not expecting me, blamed it on the boss (nice....) 2nd- As soon as she found out it was a small number of guests (35) she couldn't wait to get rid of us, went as far as saying "ok take this and have a look at it at home. ("This" was a paper copy of everything that was on their website). 3rd- At first said she wasn't expecting anyone today then after the numbers were mentioned said she would have to make a custom price list but because she had other people to see today could only manage to send me the lists tomorrow or the next day!
Am I being too fussy? Am I reading things wrong? Has anyone ever had this kind of experience? Was really looking forward to this but this experience really put a damper on things!

no i dont think you are reading things wrong at all, are there any other venues you are interested in, as they dont sound as though they want to know or can be bothered as its not a huge wedding, i would find somewhere else that is interested in giving you the special day you deserve and would like. its totally unfair, why spend your money with a place like this x

tell em too stick it it's not the place 4 u xxx good luck our 1st venue looked great on website mum even had her 50th there 16 yrs ago, got there wedding planner from same village as me in fact she used to bully me wen i 1st moved too the village then showed us a room supposed to be 4 60 guests u cud get 2 gerbils in at a push, none to say we didnt even get a coffee we just got up and walked out

yes its true our 2nd venue was the 1 just had a really good sense of feeling with this onw with no gerbils in our thoughts 3rd venue was out of this world but they were so stuck up and would give us a ballpart figure so that was that and looking at the prices it would of been too expensive

Shellay, pinkieprincess21, I've been looking at venues and this one was the 1st that had caught my eye and the 1st that i thought "yes, this could be the one", but, alas, not! H2B was saying well maybe she wasn't prepared but honestly its no excuse is it!? I do agree with all of you, they are def not worth our money. Just really gutted, that will teach me not get get my hopes up too much... gggrrrr. I was soo excited I even wrote it on my wall a couple of days ago where I was going (If anyone wants to know were we went today ;) ).

Aww go look elsewhere hun! If you have doubts about it now imagine how you would feel handing over a deposit and getting closer to the wedding, you need to be able to trust your venue to concentrate on you 110% x x x

i think your H2b may be right about the not being prepared part, but if it was all arranged and hadnt been passed onto her then that shows as a venue they are not totally organised!! you wouldnt want that to happen on your big day!!!
so sorry that you had your heart set on it hun, but im sure u will find another place where they are really helpful and want to do everything they can to accomodate you : )

I know I'm being a bit fussy with the venue but I really don't want a big hall/ room where its just going to look empty with just a few people. xxx

You have a right to be fussy Suz!! You will only do this the once, so it has got to feel right for you!! If you have any doubts at all walk away. I would definately send a snotty email though telling them exactly why you WONT be giving them the business of your wedding day!!!

If anywhere cares about their reputation they should do everything they can to be helpful and the customer service should be top notch! Even though she said she wasn't expecting you I stil think she could have been alot more accomodating and offered you another visit? I'd consider somewhere else if I were you they don't sound that bothered... but thats just my opinion x

mrssmithtobe, I have thought of sending an e-mail telling thema thing or two but to be perfectly honest I really don't think they would care! Just the attitude and stuff really gives you the feeling that they really don't care. The 1st woman we spoke to didn't seem to care that we were there and just seemed concerned with her crisps and ketchup and the 2nd.. well you read what happened so they really don't seem the kind to care much. I feel sorry for the owner to be honest lol.

Suz, I would hope they would be falling over you, 35 people or 135, if she was any sort of decent wedding planner she would realise most women only get married once and its such a special part of your day choosing were you want your reception. Sod them............ If its any consilation I have called a few places, and they have seem so uninterested about us booking a date to view the venue;-( xxxx

wow thats so rude they obviously don't want your money! the first venue i looked at was a bit like that, the woman so couldnt be bothered and after the look round just left us in the bar with a card with the hire charge on and said 'if you want me i'll be at reception'. we left without saying bye lol. don't be put off not i'm sure not everywhere is like that xx

Yep...I would be getting onto the head honcho about that treatment. She was blatantly dismissive..even after your arrangements where cocked up..she should have been giving you 110% attention.

WE FOUND THE "ONE" WAHHHHEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park is absolutely perfect!!! Beautifull, calm, such a diference from the previous one, the man (Nelson, he's the manager) really took care of us. We had coffee while we went through everything. Took time to explain things to us IN DETAIL... No stone left unturned... Best of all is the quality that you get (rooms were ready for a wedding) for the amount that you pay is amazing. Seriously recommend it! I can't wait now.. wish it was this year instead of 23 months time. Thank you everyone for helping us and keeping me positive, don't think i could have done it without it. xxx

Thank you ladies, we walked through the park afterwards and I couldn't stop jumping up and down lol. H2B had to tell me to get a grip, even our 3 year old was looking at me as if I was mad lmao. Although i have to admit, I've become more nervous now. Is that normal? I mean afterwards i calmed down a bit and started imagining the day itself (corny i know) and all of a sudden i got butterflies in my stomach lol. xxx

:) Unfortunately we couldn't take pictures because the rooms were set up for a wedding that was just starting as we left :) We actually had a right laugh because the groom looked sooooo nervous, h2b later admitted that he may actually be sick on the day so he shouldn't laugh lol. There are pictures on their website though but they really don't do it justice to be honest. I'll post the link on your wall so you can see. xxx

Dove, yes it is. Its soo beautifull. There was a big sign there saying it's a national reserve park (i think thats right, only sure of the national reserve lol).
