Wanted peoples advice on this issue! I want to double barrel my surname therefore it would be louise baker jones, and therefore our children would have my surname and my husbands surname: baker jones. However my husband to be feels that i would therefore have the same surname as our children and he would only have jones in his. He would not want this and suggested he take my name too?! What normally gets done with mens surnames when you decide to double barrel, i have no clue!

Mens surnames usually stay the same but he can change it if he wants so you match.

Traditionally the bride just takes the mans surname but it's a modern world now and people can do as they like. If your husband would like to double barrel too, that is totally acceptable, he would need to change it by deed pole as far as I am aware.

I was going to do that and OH was going to change his name so then I'd marry into it. We even gave our second son both names but then I decided that I wanted OH name. It's still nice that our son has both of our names though as he's a part of us both.

You h2b can double barrel his name to match yours. It's quite the trend for husbands to take their wife's name nowadays! It most likely would be changed by deed poll but you will probably be better off speaking to the registry office.

Just a note. if you are both changing your name then it is best for him to do his before the wedding as then you will take his new name making the paperwork easier. If not you will both need to change by deed poll x

No double barrelling for us.
Its bad enough going from Page to Mclauchlan (all those extra letters I have to write) without having write both names all the time lol
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan
