I found my dress several weeks ago and I love it. It has all the features I was looking for. It's soft and flowing, has lace and just the right amount of sparkle. However I had always planned on a dress that either had full sleeves or was totally sleeveless to allow me to wear a lace jacket with it. There's 2 reasons I wanted sleeves, the first is that I have never been a fan of my arms and less so now they are a bit chubby. I have decided to not worry about that

point as I have months ahead to tone them up. The second reason is my shoulders that are too wide for my liking. I have never worn a dress with capped sleeves before and ahead of my appt to order and pay for my dress I'm starting to worry it makes me look like an American football player or an extra from Dynasty. I'd really appreciate your honest opinions ladies. I only had my Mum with me when I chose it and she loved it on me. In need of some reassurance.

That dress is stunning! You dont look like an american football player lol. It looks gorgeous on you and from the picture your arms / shoulders dont look big to me at all :-) xx

I totally agree with Leanne, your dress is stunning, and looks fabulous on you! Xx

I think it suits you perfectly. It makes your waist look tiny. There's still time to tone your arms if you're concerned about them (although I don't think you need to be!) X

The dress is lovely and doesn't make your shoulders look big at all! Go for it x

The dress looks absolutely stunning on you. It is amazing how we can be so critical of ourselves but in reality, we shouldn't be so negative! The dress gives you a lovely figure.
And you definitely don't look like an American footballer!

I'm not a big fan of my arms or shoulders either, and when trying on dresses for the first time ever the other day, I found that small sleeves like in the dress in the picture, took the attention away from my arms and broad shoulders. I get why you would want to cover them up, but the capped sleeves don't have to stop you from wearing a lace bolero or similar if you still really want and then you get two looks for the day :)
Besides, that dress is amazing. And you look amazing in it.

It is absolutely stunning, you have nothing to worry about. Your shoulders don't look at all big, and you certainly don't look like an American football player. I was worried about my arms as well, and wanted sleeves at least to elbow length, but was persuaded that a sleeveless dress was fine, and I did tone my arms up a bit. If you do have doubts about the sleeves at any point you could always talk to a seamstress, I'm sure they could either be removed or made longer. You really don't need them to be changed though.

I will be going ahead with my dress order in a few weeks. Did any ladies who have already brought theirs more than a year in advance worry about weight loss and how any alterations might affect their dress. I know they say you shouldn't take a dress in more than a few sizes but I have read how some women have lost several stone before the big day. I def intend to lose some weight over the next year.

It would be best to speak to the shop. They'll be best to advise on alterations. Some dresses are more forgiving than others. You could order the dress in a smaller size but that isn't without risks.
