Hi, Me and my hubby to be would love for some violinists to play at our venue, we've done our research on possible violinists but would like to know how far in advance others have booked them and did they get to sample their chose music pieces before booking? Thank you x

If you have found someone you like, I would book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. You may be able to negotiate a deal for booking early too. X

I would book ASAP! We got all our suppliers booked as soon as we could so we knew they were secured and we didn't need to worry about it anymore. We booked our harpist probably about 20-22 months in advance. She sent us a clip of her playing via email and also said we were more than welcome to go to her house and hear her play, however we didn't feel we needed to. She also plays at a lot of local wedding fairs, so if there is a particular violinist you like you could find out if they will be at any upcoming wedding fairs so you can listen before you commit. X

I would expect your chosen musicians to discuss music choices with you, and find out if there is anything specific you'd like. If you have any specific pieces in mind, it's good to tell the musicians asap, in case they need to arrange or learn something new. Otherwise they will probably have a repertoire list, and I'm sure they would be happy to play things to you if you want to hear them.
