Well I've spent the weekend playing with card, ribbon, stamps, stickers and glitter. I've even created my own ribbon after failing to find exactly what i wanted. I will be the first to say i am not at all arty! I'm an engineer so ribbons and glitter do not come naturally! This is the back that i'm quite pleased with (everything will be much tighter and properly stuck down on the real ones)

It looks very pink there but it's a lovely lilac in person!
The front it extremely rough as my printer failed and refused point blank to work despite numerous threats to its continued existence! So imagination needed! The white paper will be pearlised The save the date will be a beautiful cursive font The squiggles on either side are supposed to be ivy vines in either black or lilac and of course there will be no sticky out ribbon (i did this side first and forgot to work out how to hide the adhesive on the ribbons!

You've done a good job. Tidied up a bit I think they'll look great.

They look lovely :)

They look lovely Faye! Have you tried printing onto pearlised paper before? maybe worth testing this before. But they really do look great!

Emily, i havemt yet attrmpted it (threats of being consigned to the great scrap heap in the sky did nothing to prompt my printer into action) I do have access to both a high quality photo printer and a comercial colour laser printer as of next weekend so hopefully one will work!
CommentAuthorEmily17
Ahh that's good then hopefully one will work for you!. I remember trying to print on it before and it smudged badly. Was ok given time to dry each sheet but was a bit of a faf so I gave up. That's was just a normal inkjet printer though

thats nice design.. but the color is really pale
CommentAuthorFayeJ67
not sure why you think it is too pale? its for a wedding you dont need loud colours to make them memorable.

Just had a marathon crafting session, sworn at my computer lots of time whilst trying to download fonts. Finally got it all working and printed, ran out of glue sticks so resorted to mounting spray but they are complete and I'm feeling very proud of them

It's usually a year to 8 months before your wedding date, but I'm sending mine out this month because we have family wedding in June this year and don't want to clash, i suppose it totally depends on when you would like to send them out xx :)

Maxine I'm looking to send mine out about 1 year in advance, partly because my invites themselves have to be out quite early as the venue needs to know final numbers quite early on.
CommentAuthorFayeJ67
Mine went in the post this weekend. Getting married 1st of September this year. Invites will go out in may or june as i need responses by mid august
CommentAuthorLoz K
Wow Faye your venue is letting you get final numbers really late in the day! I did think mine was a bit soon asking for final numbers 3 months beforehand. We have to give final numbers 6 weeks before, but we can only go up in numbers not down, so it just made sense to give everyone the same deadline!
Speaking of save the dates, I ordered some little magnetic ones from @m@z0n as I thought I would never be able to do them justice. They arrived today (photos in my albums) and I'm quite pleased with them considering what I paid. I now just have to wait until October before being able to send them out!
CommentAuthorFayeJ67
Loz, my venue is not doing the catering.
My caterer wants final numbers and choices (we are having a choice in our menue) by mid august.
CommentAuthorLoz K
Ah that explains it then. If I could leave it until a bit later I would love to as you're then less likely to have people pull out last minute.

Thanks guys
We are being greedy and having 2 reception doo's. We are getting married in Wales and having our formal doo on the Friday for 80 people and then having another reception on the Saturday evening in Birmingham.
We have to be in the Midlands for our clubs AGM on the Saturday afternoon and this is where the majority of our guest (approx. 250 people for the Saturday party) will be for the weekend (they will be travelling from all over the country)
I wanted to send the STD's out early, as the weekend can generally be expensive as it is before throwing a wedding into the mix, and wanted to give those guests who will be invited to the formal doo and who will also be at the informal party too, as much notice as I can, as some will need to book 2 different hotels.
We have spoken to some of our guests who have said its a great idea to combine the 2 events, and have said they would be happy to attend both.
Just not sure how soon to send them.
I think I might just get them printed and pass them out as I see people
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

They look amazing. We didn't do save the dates, we just sent the invites out early so that people booking summer holidays wouldn't clash. It was an August wedding and we figured people would start booking summer holidays in January, so we made sure we got them out after New Year. All the crucial people already knew the date anyway.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

They look great!
How did you get the card to go through the printer??
I want to make my own STD and invites but scared that my printer will just bend everything as it's one that takes from the bottom and turns it over

The card didnt go through the printer. A4 sheets of realy thick paper did and those were cut out and glued to the card.
CommentAuthorSamanthaW362
ya i mean, thats ok, you give it one strong color to make it more eye catching
