Hi there I'm new to UK bride and would just like to introduce myself I'm Hollie and I'm getting married next May, however as exciting as it is planning I've got a few things that I'm stressed about my parents are divorced and remarried I want them and partners at the top table but don't want them to sit side by side as it causes tension and I get extremely anxious about it, also some of my parentss family are abit brutal I just don't want arguments as I know that I'd get upset. Thanks x

Hi!! Congratulation on your upcoming wedding! We currently have a thread running for all 2017 brides if you'd like to join us.
As for your feuding family, they need to respect this is your wedding and if they can't behave you can always ask them to leave. My sister has a similar problem (very bad blood between her mum and our dad) so has decided against a formal sit down meal and has gone for a hog roast instead where guests can sit where they like. For me I don't want my mother taking over my day so we are having a horse shoe top table with myself my new hubby our daughter my MOH and his BM on the top table then my family and remaining bm's on one of the joining tables and his family and GM on the other. If you definitely want both your parents and their partners at the top table with you then I would just make it clear to them early on that this is what is happening (give them time to get used to the idea) and you expect them to behave and not ruin your wedding.
    Good luck with it all

Hi :) its so hard when you have family tension isn't it! You could put one of them the other side of your oh parents or if you really don't want them sat together maybe have just you and hubby and the best man and moh on top table and they can then 'run' their own tables so won't be near each other. They should suck it up as its only for one day Nd you should be important enough to them that they can be civil for one day! X

Just found this online for you as an idea. Definitely have a word with them now to explain what you want to do and that you don't want any trouble.

I personally am not one for splitting parents up so will be putting my parents next to each other as don't want any of them feeling uncomfortable trying to make conversation, and your steps might be stroppy being put on the ends so I'd defo talk to them and see how they feel and what they sort of expecting? As they might expect for the step parents to be sat on different table or for something else x
