Thought I might give making our own Macarons for the wedding! As was looking at 130+ for a tower of them, but have just done my first trial lots and not holding my breath :( think I need a lot more practice as the chocolate ones were just like liquid and went everywhere! And the normal ones seem ok ATM just waiting for the oven to go off. Anyone have any tips on baking them? I know we can bake them and freeze them but it's the actual making them I'm struggling with x

Tricky things, like Paul said on bake off last night, if you're going to make them, make them properly. Easy to over bake

They came out really bad :( taste lovely but look like rubbish haha, they come out flat and look more like biscuits that macaroons! No shiny layer no nice rise no good shape nothing :,(

Yeah it is easy to over bake and make sure you mix egg whites well so they turn out glossy- once piped drop the tray on the work top a couple of times so the spread evenly and also turn round in oven half way so bake evenly- have funA personal taste but always look better than taste :-) xx

I think I didn't whisk the egg whites long enough so will try that next time, just so annoying spent so much time waiting and doing it all and it turned out wrong :(
