My h2b wants to buy the rings himself. He doesn't want me to see them until we say 'I do'. I thought choosing the rings are something we are supposed to do together. I fully trust his judgment (he bought me a beautiful engagement ring) but I dont know if I want him choosing the ring alone. I wouldnt mind if I could see it before the big day. Am I being silly? Anyone else's other half's done this? X

I think it depends on if your engagement ring goes with any style ring.

No, I don't think it would, I'd have to give him my engagement ring when he goes to pick the wedding ring. He knows I want silver & diamonds lol. I wouldn't be able to cope if I was on don't tell the bride lol

I think you'd need to be there really, but it's nice that he wants to keep it a surprise.

Can you perhaps go with him, select and try 4/5 and then let him chose from your favourites?? That's what I did with my engagement ring x

I thought that too. Even if he showed me after he bought it incase it doesnt sit right on my finger then he could return it within the 28 days. It is a lovely guesture. I may just have to tell him to go buy the ring a week before the wedding so if it does need to be returned it can

I think that's a lovely idea however i would hate the thought of maybe having to change it as it wasn't the ring used when you got married

That is what is is bothering me. I know I'd love what ever ring he chooses however its juat if it doesnt sit right on my finger, that ring will be in some pictures & I wouldn't want to change it. I'm over the moon he is getting involved the way he is though :)

Wedding rings are my new nightmare. I'm not in England, so H2b will be choosing them by himself. I've found my dream ring online, and then it's on a totally different price now! So, I'm almost giving up and asking him to pick one himself :(

    I like the 4/5 options idea. :)

I went online yesterday and found a website that you can order rings from for a small charge of £2.40 so I ordered 2, me and my OH.... We can try them on, see how they look/feel and know we can get them cheaper. From a high street store, for both rings it would cost £1800 for what we want but this online store it would only cost £1200

It's up to the coupe really if to chose them together or not. Min thing is that it fits your engagement ring.

It's definitely something I think couples should do together, for me it's one of the key stand out moments of planning a wedding together. It's a lovely gesture but I wouldn't want to lose out on that experience xx

We chose ours together. I chose a completely different ring for myself than I initially intended to buy.

I agree. if OH picked my ring. he knows what I want but the shape and fit of it would worry me.

I agree with giving him options of ones you like.

I've never heard of this though?

Hmm it's a tough one, I'd like him to know I trust his judgment 100% but I agree its something I always thought we would do together. I think when he goes I'll have to give him my engagement ring so the jeweller can advise him one a perfect fit ring and if he was to get something really nasty (which I don't think he would) then I'd have to change it. I'll keep showing him a selection of rings I like & if he is adament he wants to do it alone then I will secretly go try some on and send him the pics off the internet so I dont look like a bridezilla haha. Thank you for all your help x

I was pickier about my wedding ring than i was about my engagement ring so i couldn't have let my h2b pick it on his own. if i was you i would suggest he find something else to surprise you with xx

Apart from getting me the louboutins I want then there isn't really anything else tbh. I'm out of work until September (hopefully) so I'm doing all the wedding planning and showing him everything of an evening, if he likes it stays, if he doesnt it either goes or we compromise (if I really love it). He is also keeping his & my sons suits a surprise as he is buying designer for them both and hiring suits for my brothers (ushers), his best man & my dad (his dad has passed away thats why no suit for him) xx

I dont mind him buying the rings himself, I'm just concerned it doesnt sit right as I've said. Then if I have to change it, it isn't the same as in the wedding photos, might not feel like my wedding ring (if that makes sense) xx

I get what you mean about it not feeling like your wedding ring if you have to change it. it wouldn't feel the same if it wasn't the one that was blessed. but I know some people who buy new rings every few years too..?
