We are having a church wedding and when we went to see the vicar to book it, he advised that he is retiring. We have been trying to arrange to speak to somebody about our ceremony but haven't had much luck. We've just been told that they don't know who will be doing our ceremony yet. We went to see the vicar at our parish church about having the banns called and he said that we should keep chasing as it's something that needs sorting soon.
We have emailed to advise that we have arranged the banns being called at our parish church and that we would like to arrange to speak to somebody about our ceremony so we can get our orders of service prepared (our invitation lady is putting them together for us). They came back to say that they still don't exactly who will be doing our ceremony and somebody will be in touch, but we haven't heard anything.
When do we start to panic and do we pester again?

I think keep on and on at them, they will get fed up and give you the answer before soon. Don't leave it too late and close to the wedding.

Thank you. Will get OH to contact them. A bit annoying that we aren't getting any answers!

I would just keep pestering them!

The problem with parish churches is that they don't start the process of replacing a vicar until they have left. When a vicar leaves the church goes into interregnum and is looked after by vicars from neighbouring churches. The banns need to be read in the Sunday morning service on three consecutive Sundays in the run-up to the wedding, but these can be arranged with the church warden. If it's anything like my husband's church they will note them in a book and tell whichever vicar is leading on the relevant morning. Regarding orders of service, ask the lady doing them for a deadline for when she needs the information, and search online for the Anglican wedding service. It's pretty standard, so all you need is to pick hymns and readings.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
