    Hello ladies,

I know it's probably just me and I know my wedding is a while away yet but I'm feeling really glum about the whole thing right now......
The build up to the engagement, the proposal, choosing the venue and setting the date were all so exciting and now it's just stopped.

I've lost that buzz and my H2B doesn't really talk about the wedding. I'm feeling quite disheartened by it now :-( I'm sure it's normal for it all to be go go go and then come to a small halt but it's not what I imagined.

I see all the posts and everyone has done loads and I know 'we've got ages yet' ( I hate that phrase lol) but I just want to get stuck in.......

There is only so much searching the Internet one person can do.

Is this normal or am I being over sensitive?

Hi Emmilou. I think this is completely normal! We got engaged November 2012 and are getting married in a couple of weeks. I've found it to be a complete emotional rollercoaster to be honest! There have been times when we've been researching/booking/buying things where it's all been really exciting and then times where there's not really been much to do. As for H2B, it's only really been as it's got closer that he's really started getting involved. The words chocolate teapot spring to mind lol! It helps to try and aim to book/buy something each month to keep the excitement going.

When is the big day? Xxx

    Hi Becky1608,

The big day is 30th July 2016.

I think once christmas is out of the way the planning will commence again but it was all a big hype to begin with and the sudden stop has thrown me. My H2B works away 3 weeks out of 4 and i dont generally havea nyone to talk to about it. People just say 'Oh you have got ages yet'. True, but thats not the point lol.... Im excited and want to plan. I want to talk colours and flowers and favours.

Im sure it will all come back again......

I bet you are really excited now?!

Now if you look at my post last year you would have seen i had written pretty much the same thing!

It's a roller coaster - you will have times when you are so excited and other times when you are feeling really down. Nobody will ever be as excited as you but it's not their big day - it's yours! So start looking at bits and pieces and get ideas. It's better to be organised than getting stressed up to the eyeballs because you've left everything last minute.

Remember - venues, registrar and photographers get booked years in advance!

    Enjoy your planning x

You've always got us to talk to emmilou :-) so you're never on your own. I'm getting married aug 2016 and I feel the exact same. But once next year is here and we can buy things/put deposits down and say we are getting married next year instead of 'in 2 years' I can't wait x

I think planning goes through waves, we had a quiet few months and this week has seemed a bit busier talking about details and iv started buying some of the smaller things.
Don't be disheartened, time will fly and it'll be 2016 in no time!

You do have up and down moments I think it's normal. You have busy planning moments, and you have months where not much happens. I think it's just how planning a wedding goes. Your day will be wonderful xx

I think its normal, i went dress shopping last week and apparently my brother said to his girlfriend blimey my sister is going dress shopping already, she was like eh yes it takes months to order a dress in! He told me he thought they carried a dress in each size which you just bought off the shelf (his words) and then had made to fit!
I think some people don't realise the planning and the length it takes. A good idea is to talk to us about plans or even friends who are married, I've found married women love talking weddings as it brings back feelings of their own!

We've been engaged since Christmas and have only just booked out wedding for May 2016, I started to feel a little bit glum before booking anything like we were never going to get married, as we have been engaged 10 months and hadn't really spoke about it. Then one day last week we decided to go and look at venues and booked one! Now that we have booked it I've realised it's only 18 months away so it's really not that long at all. Also now that we are booked I've got my excitement back and I am going to book/ do something every month or so to keep the excitement there. I have loads of ideas but haven't actually done any of them yet so there's lots to do. Maybe try to write out a plan of what needs doing and when you are going to do them, I'm sure the excitement will come back :) xx

2 years before my date I booked, venue, registra, cake, band, photographer & videographer within 6/8 months.
After that I have had rather a slower time, but have trying to be looking up, investigating, different ideas, plans etc each month, like this month I have been looking at flowers, which I have now booked. And giving notice tomorrow.
Next month I'm concentrating on make up, and bm dresses/sites.

I think everyone goes through a bit of this, I did 6 months after we got engaged as everything had stopped happening and we had nothing else big to sort, then once we got to xmas 2013 it just went mental... Both sides can be as bad as each other,I liked the beginning stages, wasn't so keen on the stress at the end but it was worth it x

Yayy! Glad your spirits have lifted Emmilou :) When is your big day? I had to giggle when I saw the "we've got ages" bit. We used to say that, and all of a sudden the wedding crept up on us, and the months FLEW by. The final 6 months felt like 2.

We've got loads sorted already but definitely making a start with all the crafty things now like our favours and invitations. The more that's done now the better x

Hi Emmilou, I found that two. We got engaged in October 2012 and married in August 2014, and it was a case of "after Christmas we can start planning" in 2012, and "after Christmas we can start finalising the plans and get invites out" in 2013. It's because we are heavily involved in a Nativity project which takes over each autumn. We were busy, but I still desperately wanted to get on with things, while my husband was so heavily involved in the project that there simply wasn't any time. Now it's "after Christmas we can look at upsizing and trying for a baby". The time will fly by. You just need milestones. Maybe have something that you will look at after Christmas, and something after Easter, and something next summer.

Clarenina - we get married on 30th July 2016 so a while yet but how fast this year has gone it will fly by..... :-)

Flossie - I'm glad you have got a good start on things, I wish I knew what I was doing to be able to make a start lol. I'm not very crafty and I envy the fact you are making stuff.... I wish I was more that way :-)

Elinor Claire - milestones are a good idea. I'll have something to set my mind too then rather than aimlessly looking at anything and everything.

I'm going to sit the H2B down tonight and try and squeeze at least a colour theme out of him. I'm really liking Lavender & Deep Rose for a romantic style wedding, so I just need the nod from him then I can play on Pinterest with a little bit more of an end goal in mind.......

Thanks ladies for you kind words. It helps clear my negative thoughts and focus more :-)

Emmilou82 I get married 20 days before you and chick I feel exactly the same. We have decided not to put any deposits on anything until January, so right now it doesn't feel like anything is happening and atm its all talk. I want to get deposits on everything in January (as I get a £3k payout) so then we can just pay the rest off as the year goes by, but h2b only wants to put it on a couple of the main things at first.

I know I am going to have to stamp my feet on some things as he likes to laze about where as I like to plan so we can keep to our budget so in the end we dont have to compromise on things that we will have to leave out.

There is only so much to do I want to sort out bridesmaids and stuff but all I hear is "theres plenty of time" BLAHHH yes maybe!! but not for me!! who has to pay for it!!!

    :) I feel your pain x

    Ah bless ya......

After Christmas I'd like to start wedding dress shopping. I know I'm still a fair way off yet but I'm soooo fussy and hate shopping so it could turn into a long drawn out process. I'm kind of having to split it into teams too. My ex's mum wants to come dress shopping too. Luckily we are still extremely close and she collects my son from school everyday so she is very important to me. My FMIL and my MOH. I'll be honest, I'm dreading it!!! I just hate shopping that's all lol x
