We have 3 weeks to go tomorrow and getting a bit excited!

However a close friend of ours has just started a new job 1 week ago and never thought to mention that they were coming to the wedding and it was only when I was chatting to them about their new job I felt cheeky about asking if they'd remembered to mention which pretty much I got a "Oh, no, whoops forgot about that". and we're now waiting to see if they can come, and I'd be gutted if they can't make it.

Just to make things worse, the SO of my maid of honor has done the *exact* same thing - and starts work tomorrow and forgotten to mention it.

Waiting on them both to try and plead with work to see if they can have the time off but it's just really frustrating this close and especially since they're quite close friends as well.

If they both pull out it's not so bad, but if one says yes and one says no it's awkward trying to find a single lone friend to pull forward.

Sorry for the rant. Flustered :(

They should have told them at the interview or at least when they got the job... Fingers crossed they can both come :S

It's easy to forget under the pressure of starting a new job, but I'd be annoyed too. Usually at interview they ask if you have any holidays booked, and that would be the time to mention a day off needed for a wedding. Some bosses will go out of their way to make sure people don't miss important things like that, so hopefully they've both got nice bosses. I managed to land myself working a Saturday on the day a friend got married, because I was so focussed on working out which Saturdays to keep free for the major Nativity project that I'm involved in every year that I didn't notice the date of the Saturday that I was landing myself with. Fortunately someone was able to swap.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I can imagine that if they were desperate for the job, they would have forgot to mention about the wedding if not asked, however, when I was attending interviews last year after qualifying, I got asked in all of them if I had any days or holidays coming up that needed to be granted. To just 'forget' about it though is slightly wrong and annoying.

Hope they can both make it, especially your MOH! Surely she has a better chance if she says she's in the bridal party?

Hope you manage to get it sorted. Not quite the same thing but my Sister's boyfriend managed to get a ballot place in the London Marathon next year. I checked the date and it's the day after our wedding. No beer and wine for him :o)

@April - it's my MOH's girlfriend sorry! must have written that wrong!

The first friend (not MOH girlfriend) doesn't intend to stay at the job there as they've got a teaching course sort of thing that begins in January so they leave the country for three months. But we both see this friend regularly and admittedly they are a bit scatter brained but it's just frustrating. They're working in a call centre and have been told the shifts are a bit difficult at the moment.

In different sides to it, the friend going away just said "I might not be able to come" and that was it, whereas MOH offered to pay for her girlfriend if she couldn't make it (I've refused, it's not about the money involved, we can always "upgrade" other guests!) but it's the hurt that the friends we see so regularly and it's slipped their mind.

Oh. Both were prompted at interview about holidays/events after speaking to MOH and the call centre friend.

On a very positive note, I see why you chose you MOH, it doesn't fix it, it's not the point, but what a sweet, wonderfully thoughtful gesture!

My MOH is a god send (on top of finding out my ring size for my H2B! :P) she copes with my rants, raves, and despite not being in the situation I'm in is very sympathetic when I have my low moments and encouraging with my highs!

Well by way of an update, the first friend plucked up their nerves and asked work, and they said it wasn't a problem :) which is good news!

Although after chasing MOH, MOH's girlfriend still doesn't know, " because she needs to book the holiday but it should be sometime next week".

H2B is getting very wound up about this as he's doing table plans for wedding. I know 1 person shouldn't affect it too much but the person we're pulling forward if they can't come means he'd have to rejig the tables about again as it's not the same friend group if that makes sense.

Hopefully everything goes to plan. We had a couple let us down the day before so the stress may not be over yet. It always happens this close though. We had a few not turn up to the evening either which we didn't notice at the time but we noticed when we thought back when we were on honeymoon x
