Congratulations on your engagement!! First things first sit down and have a discussion and decide if you want a long engagement or what year you would like to get married. Then you can work out how much you can afford. We looked around for saving accounts so we could put a certain amount away each month for our wedding and its surprising how much you can save!! Thats where we started anyway. Hope that helps x

Hello and congratulations on your engagement! Don't rush into it if you don't feel ready.. when we got engaged we knew we would have quite a long engagement as we were only 20 at the time and were just moving in together, so we still had a lot to experience together. Being engaged for us was more of a sign of our commitment to start with :) we'd been engaged over 2 years before we decided on a date.

I would definitely sit down and work out how much you can save each month so you know when roughly to book your date - we are saving for 2 years. Then I would choose your venue and make sure you book it as soon as you can afford the deposit as you wouldn't want to lose out on your dream venue x

Welcome to UKbride and congratulations on your engagement. You definitely need to sit down with your partner and work out a rough budget. Going to some wedding fayre's will help you get some idea on costs. Good luck! xx

    Firstly welcome and congratulations,

the best thing about planning a wedding, is giving yourself lots of time, its great as the fun lasts longer :)

like the others said, it down think of a year, not necessarily a date or month just yet unless you have one in mind,

then think about realistically what you can afford, look around at different venues etc to get a feel for what you like, you don't even need to have a date for any of this, once you know what you like, you can play around with ideas, in time you will get to know what you want ad how much things might cost,

please dont worry about time, my H2B and i got together 15 years ago, we got engaged 13 years ago and will be married 16 years into our relationship, love has no time, do it when your both ready, its that one special day, i bet people would wait forever knowing they will get it just how they want, i know i kept that in mind all these years and now im finally getting my day 16 years later :) and its just gonna be perfect just like yours will be :) xx
