    Hi Everyone,

HOB and I got engaged last week. Ive been talking about but hes always seemed disinterested so it was a massive shock. I started a new job the day after so theres a whole load of change all at one time.
Im the kind of person who gets stressed if I get overloaded so Im trying to get big things sorted out sooner so that I dont panic about it getting too close to the day. I already have my a deposit on my dress I tried one on (before proposal) and fell in love so thats a massive stress off.
Were having trouble trying to decide on venue. We'd like something elegant and beautiful, our families are from 80 miles apart so we'd like someone an evenish distance from each side. But were on quite a tight budget. I wont lie, I think I have more money than I do.
We've started thinking about maybe a marquee/tipi for WB and R but didnt know if anyones had any experience with this. Is it more expensive? Does anyone know anywhere in the midlands that would be able to put a marquee up?

    Thanks

When I looked into marquees, they worked out the same as a hotel.

We are a little short of cash so we have opted for a village hall, therefore we have full control over the costs. We have organised our own catering, drinks etc

Me too, i looked into a village hall at first, until i realised that it wouldn't be big enough. Then i went onto looking into marquee's and realised that they are roughly the same price as a hotel.

If you know that a village hall is going to be big enough, id go with that. You can dress them up with materials and mood lighting to look fantastic.

    BTW, welcome to UKbride!

It can cost similar as it's sourcing tables, decorations, caterers, portaloos(if needed) etc so costs all mount up there,if you're organised and want the extra work, but can add up cost wise x
