We are only having 65 guests at our wedding as that is the minimum number to get the package we want. But I'm concerned that half of the people that we invite won't bother to RSVP or will say they are coming but suddenly "the cat has a cough so we can't come". It is out son's baptism tomorrow and the numbers are slowly dwindling. From what was meant to be around 40 people coming only about 25 are. And I'm annoyed that we have paid out for food and a lot is going to go to waste.
There are people who I would rather invite to the wedding over some family members but I obviously have to invite these family members first.
All I can think of is giving them an early RSVP date so that when they don't bother to RSVP it gives me the excuse to invite other people in their place. But I also don't want to invite people just for the sake of making up the numbers.
Our flower girl is my cousin on my mums side, I wasn't going to ask her to be flower girl as that side are always the ones not to make the effort, but I have asked her as my mum wanted somebody from her side invoked. Her parents have said she would love to be flower girl, so I can only hope there won't be some excuse nearer the time.

these people that don't turn up for the baptism, despite saying they would be coming, jut wouldnt get an invite. family or not. its downright rude, and if they can do it for that, whats to stop them doing it at the wedding.

I dreaded getting ours back, as we only have 38 day and an additional 20 evening. All of my family apart from my Mum and my 2 brothers said they can't come, and lots of others have let us down. We had to send out a second round of invites.

I have got a feeling that I'm going to have to do the exact same thing with a second round of invites. Just had another one drop out of tomorrow because they have been asked to work. If it was me and i had told them that I was going I would make sure I went. I'd book the day off if needed. The one who is going to be flower girl, their answer was all based on whether the husband had to work or not. Sorry but would you not take it as annual leave, especially seeing as how I'm asking their daughter to be part of my wedding?
Feeling so upset right now.

I think you will always get son egg at do this, annoying as it is. We had hubby's aunt and uncle say yes, then three weeks before said no, fortunately I had some friends to jump in. Then on the day five did not turn up. Does not sound much but at £35 per head for the meal, then the extra for the drinks etc it soon mounted up. If peeps don't RSVP, send out a gentle reminder saying that if you do not hear from such a date you will assume they are not coming and will not be catered for.
Was going to send the original invites with an early cut off date to allow time for back up invites. Oh well if people don't turn up it just means I get their portions of food and drink - lucky I've got a corset I can loosen :)

Did you find that the ones who said yes to the save the date cards that most of them did go?
Good thing about my invites is that they have to choose what food they want, so if they don't RSVP there won't be a meal for them.

I have sent out most of my "save the date" magnets and have had a really positive response from my side which I'm really pleased about.
But I'm a bit peed off with my OHs side. I have sent out ones to the people who I have been able to get addresses for, but not had any response from them. And we don't have addresses for some of his side, have asked him to get them but by the time he bothers to get them it'll be months, so even though I don't really talk to them I decided to message one of them on Fbook to ask for their address and the addresses for their sister and mum, but even though I know they have seen the message they still haven't bothered to reply a week on.
Doesn't give me much confidence on the actual RSVPs.

I don't think you reply to STDs.
I had to do the same with my ohs family to get addresses after asking his mum several times turned to fb. And had the same thing with so e could see they had seen the message but no reply for weeks but once one replyed the others did too.

We didn't get replies from save the dates, std's are really just to make ppl aware of when ur wedding is and hopefully they don't book a holiday etc ... Rsvps only important for the invites and we only had to chase one couple x
