Hello everyone! Those who are having a band or musician for the day how much are you paying and for how long? We've been quoted for a cellist and pianist £650 for ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast is that good?
Thank you! x

That sounds good to me.
We have an electric violinist for the wedding breakfast and she is £530, I think it's similar prices if we wanted her for the ceremony-I was being selfish though and said I wanted to hear her :p plus we like her playing things like the TV themes ect. which will work better for the wedding breakfast rather than the ceremony.

If I remember rightly the Musicians Union rate is £100 for 90 minutes, so that cover a ceremony and music before and after for one player. The drinks reception and wedding breakfast would be at least the same again, but I'd imagine that would be longer than 90 minutes, in which case the MU would say £15 for each extra £15 minutes. With those figures, I'd say that £650 for two players for that length of time is pretty much spot on.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

I'd say £650 is about right.
We're having a string trio (they're really good and have played on Str1ctly, with K@ny3 W3st, etc) and are paying £500 for 3.5 hours: pre-ceremony entertainment as our guests arrive; music during the ceremony; and the drinks reception. You're obviously having them there for longer, but you also have 1 less musician which is why I'd say £650 is about right depending on their standard/expertise etc.
its a bit different but we wanted a bit of live music so i contacted the local groups in the area. i got a mini group of folkies who ate going to perform for us and are that happy at having an audience they doing fir free (obv in giving them some money anyway)
but all am saying is if your on a budget contact local groups/schools/music teaches there may be a talented kid who would probably think £100 is a million dollars!!!

Is a very lucky girl :)

OH's sister is a professional musician and we are having her quintet for the ceremony, ontop of paying them we are also going to feed them as they will be losing out on a few hours fully paid work by coming to play for our day :)
