Just wondering how you girls are doing your makeup? DIY or makeup artist? I have only spoken to one lady so far but she is quoting 160 for my makeup with one trial. This to me sounds absolutely rediculous, I'm not really a makeup wearer but I will wear it on my special day. Is this the standard or is this expensive? Thanks x

I am doing my on make up.. purely because I am very fussy with my make up. I have started to buy new make up for the day( I have hidden it away until the big day).. I would rather spend £100 on decent make up that I can keep after the wedding than have someone else do my make up and I not like it anyway! x

I'm having my hair and make up done by a hair/makeup artist. I'm useless with makeup so want it done properly on my day. And it also means I can relax getting it done and no stress.
I am £80 for hair and make up just for me on the day and £40 for both trials so £120 for me with trials.
After 7 years and 11 months he proposed to me 18.10.13

I had mine done by a professional, she does London fashion week and weekend as well as specialising in weddings. I wouldn't have had anyone else but her do it and she was worth every penny. Her charges were about the same as your quote but also included hair.
Married the love of my life on Saturday 11th May 2013 xxx
Had our dream perfect honeymoon in Hawaii!
Mines being done by a salon I go to anyway. They are coming to the house to do make-up and hair for me and the 4 bridesmaids. I'm having my trial next month (the day of my hen weekend) but the girls are lovely and I know them quite well so I'm not worried about it. I could do my own make-up but I know it won't be there by the end of the night!!

I had a make up artist do mine- Although i'm good at my own I did not want the pressure of doing it myself! She was £120.
She did mine, my 3 BMs, my mum and my auntie. We all had a trial beforehand, but the first lady I picked was awful and none of us really clicked with her- she seemed to be charging an arm and a leg too!

I was sure I was going to do my own, as I was worried I'd look 'overdone' otherwise, but then I came across my MUA at a wedding show at our venue, and her work was great, and she reassured me that it would look natural; she also did a demo on her daughter and it looked amazing, natural, but flawless. Much better than I could ever do. So, we've booked her, and we're paying £350 for hair and make-up with a trial (so, similar to what you've been quoted for make-up if you spit it in half).
I figured it's one less thing to worry about; sometimes I get stressed out doing my make-up for special occasions, and if I have to take it off and reapply if I make a mistake, my skin goes blotchy and red because it's quite sensitive. I haven't had my trial yet though, so will have to wait and see! It seems everything is going wrong atm lol so just hope the trial goes OK!

I was toying with the idea of doing my own and started trying out a few looks but then H2B said he wants me to hire a professional because he wants me to feel pampered on the day - couldn't really argue with that.
