Hello, I'm struggling to find invites that are reasonably priced and the kind of thing I'd want, I want something that is like a card so I can put additional info in for guests who need it but I'd really like a little bit of lace on it. I've thought of making my own but I'm not sure about printing things onto the paper- if any other brides have examples of their handmade invites I'd love to see them as I could do it dead cheap if I made them myself. Also, I don't know if I should send save the dates? I'll be getting married September, I thought of sending invites January, that way everyone has their new calender and its before any holidays are booked, but if I know all the info for the wedding do I need save the dates? Bit puzzled! Thanks x

I sent my save the dates a year in advance... Invites 4 months before... I made my own cheque book style invites, that way I could have as many pages as I wanted x

I'm not sending save the dates. We're getting married next April so sending the invites in September instead. I too am yet to find a reasonably priced stationary store!

Marrying my best friend
Not long now :D
I made my own invites and inserts, there's a picture in one of my photo albums. I get EVERYTHING (ink for printer, paper, card, gems butterflies etc from the bay)

I did save the dates about 10 months before (as its bank holiday weekend in August) and plan to give out invites 3-4 months before so can get the replies sorted for food and what not! I got all of mine from V1sta pr..nt, were cheap and good quality. You could always order the basic invitation online (bay of e or v1sta etc) then add something on after yourself such as lace? Customise as it were. x

We've just finished our save the dates. We used a free template from a website, printed them onto glossy paper, backed them with 300gsm card and put ribbon round the top. We also made pockets for them and added magnetic strips. They have only cost us about £20 without printer ink that we needed anyway. And we have enough stuff left over to do our invites x

Hi Laura, could you post the link for the website on my wall please? Haven't seen any save the date designs that we like so thinking of doing our own :-) also, are magnetic strips easily available? Thanks xx

We got our magnetic strips from one of the bay or @ma-Zon. I made our save the dates, they were pretty easy to make!

No problem. If I remember rightly, I think you could get it in different colours too. have popped a picture in my DIY album if that helps with designing your own? Mine were very simple really.
