I'd send them out no later than 12 months out so it gives people plenty of time to arrange leave, accommodation, and travel

We never sent STDs but then we have told most people who are coming to the day as its mainly just family and bridal party, when we have seen them. With regards the rest, it is up to you and depends what you are having - if you want chocolate favours wait until nearer the time. Maybe for bridesmaids go out and get a feel for what there is now but wait until Feb next year to buy in case their bodies change? I bought mine for this August in Feb and I will buy my favours in June.

We did ours at 12 months... I pretty much started buying stuff as soon as we got engaged! That was two years ago but I'm so glad I did as we've saved a lot of money and I've had time to do a lot of DIY, again to keep costs down... We got our photobooth half price from £400 to £200, saved on the car which should have been £350 but paying £250, got venue for free, candy cart at £225 from £250 and all centrepieces for £20 on the bay, should have been £20 each and we got 9 for the price of 1!
I bought bm dresses back in August and two of then fit the girls the other basically got told my the dressmaker to lose weight (that was awkward!) got 100 chair covers for 75p each because we're doing them ourselves... There are bargains to be had but you really have to search for them...

    Save the dates straight away...
    I did venue,my dress,photographer straight away.
Then everything else has been done with 10months to go, we have everything booked now, it's just the paying it all off.
Last thing to be booked was the honeymoon, which we did on Saturday after working out we could afford to have one x
