We are having a halloween wedding next year, so we are wanting a fun autumnal theme. Originally i wanted each table to have a different sweetie/chocolate tree on them which would be the name of that table..I'm planning well ahead here so that i know how much money i need to have saved in order to pay for them. I'm now thinking it might be too much money? I then suggested a dome shaped ball covered in a choice of confectionery instead of the whole tree so that i wouldn't need a bucket, pole/stick, all the ribbons and decorating bits etc and also that way the dome can sit nicely on the table and won't risk falling over..the woman i asked to do this is now ignoring my request :/ i can't think of anything too fun that i can put as a centrepiece instead (we're already having pumpkins elsewhere!).
Any ideas for something else or is there a way i can do this myself without breaking the bank or does anyone know anyone who can help?

You can buy floristry foamy type balls and polystyrene balls from most craft shops not sure these would be big enough though. Ive thought of a random way might not be cheep enough but here goes, buy a melon cut it in half, cover in cling film to keep in the juices, then cover in tin foil or fabric to match your colours, using cocktail sticks attatch your choosen sweets. No idea if this will work but like I said just a random thought I had.

What about cauldrons full of sweets as a centrepiece? x

How about putting coldrans (I know that's not spelt right but can't think of how its spelt) in the centre with fake web material coming out with the sweets inside u could pad the inside out with newspapers to make the sweets more visible x

I do like the cauldron idea but even though it's a halloween wedding we don't want too much halloweeny stuff..we're using pumpkins as decorations around the room and barn so not having them for centrepieces as well. I've been looking online for the foam/polystyrene balls so going to see if i can make the sweet trees/domes myself, if we do a sweet table i think i'll maybe we'll do cauldrons there but we want more of an autumnal feel to our wedding decor.

If you want to go more for the autumnal feel could you maybe have leaves and pine cones in a bowl or something as the centrepiece? xx

Yeah that would be really nice :) or even some sort of 'tree' type thing coming out of the bowl with the sweets hanging off?! :) xx

making them yourself wouldnt cost much, i got ten polystyrene balls of the bay (from china) for little over one pound, and that included delivery. they are perfectly fine as well, considering how cheap they were lol.
i was gunna do it myself originally, but somehow managed to get myself talked out of the idea. guh.

What size were the balls velcro? I'm considering doing the domes still so i could cut them in half if they are a full ball and decorate them with material etc.
Love that idea too AmyH!
