We have officially begun our search for a wedding & reception venue. YAY! Last night I took 17 brochures home and my h2b very kindly agreed.to sift through the pile & help arrange by a yes & no pile to limit the choice. Well I was pleased to see that he did the task by removing THREE of them on to the no pile.
Just three.
So today,to try & help us make our decision, I have contacted each venue and got quotes for venue hire, ceremony and guide drink & food prices to give us a rough idea of the cost.
I didn't know that it could be so difficult so choose a venue!
We have family all over the place (I say we, but I really mean he) so we are trying to find somewhere that's reasonably close by to everyone.
I don't even know where to start with the guest list as our grand total at the moment is 100 that apparently MUST go. (You'll be pleased to hear that of that 100, there are only 19 on my side, including me!)
It's a nightmare already, and I've only just started!
I do have a venue viewing on 18th March, but it is proving very difficult as we both work different days and only get the evenings together. We also live three hours away from the three different places that we are looking to get married in!
Argh...

100 in The day sounds like a very expensive hobby!!! My advice for everything is that's it's yours and his day so find and choose what suits you. Xx

Does the 100 include children? We have 70 adults msx the 11 5+ kids who are half price and 6 below that go free.

I would say the same just do what makes you 2 happy try not to please everybody else or it becomes a huge headache from what I've seen on here x

Thanks for the messages. The 100 doesn't include any children under the age of 15 which is great for us. We are definitely going to have to cut the numbers down because 100 for a ceremony and wedding breakfast is daft money, when we are trying to get everything as low as we can.
It's about the marriage at the end of the day :)

To unrestict your profile go to the my wedding tab at the top of the page, scroll down to the my details bit, when the page loads scroll to the bottom and it has a bit that says privacy settings...set to public xx

Try and attend wedding fayres at your proposed venues if you can; they will often do tours on these days and have rooms set up as they would be on the day so can give you a good idea. Also if you have a budget in mind then try to stick to it as best as you can. Is it really worth choosing a more expensive venue and having to really cut back on other things like photographers or would it be better to chose another venue that you like which is cheaper?
Also have a look at package deals; quite a few do deals if your wedding is on a weekday (like ours) :)
