Wedding Forum - Devastated my venue has closed down with 8...

Hi all
my venue longhirst hall closed today without warning no phone call letter nothing!!!!
To say im devastated is an understatement!
Now we have 8 weeks to find a venue for a blummin may bank hol weekend!!!!!!!
Help!!
I have a registra booked in Northumberland so need to stay within this area anyone know newhere?

Oh no! It took u a while to pick that as well. Any money back? Or insurance?

Can't suggest anywhere just ring round in case anywhere has any cancellations

Disappointed couples could try... Matfen Hall - does weddings, reception and accommodation or Dissington Hall - does weddings and receptions or Horton Grange Hotel - does weddings. receptions and accommodation. All have nice grounds and specialise in weddings. Good luck in finding new venues

Sorry to hear the sad news for so many couples. If we can help at all we still have some dates available this year. We have a wedding showcase event on this Sunday 11-4 and are in the office tomorrow for showarounds...Great venue, come along and see the rooms dressed for a ceremony and wedding breakfast this weekend

Thought I would post just incase it was helpful for you.

I don't know if they'll have any availability, but one place we looked at was Eshott Hall. They have a open day next sunday (8th March), so you could talk to someone face to face about costs, availability etc.

I feel incredibly sorry for the poor couple who are supposed to get married there today. I hope all the other local wedding venues between them are able to accommodate everyone affected.

If you can't find anywhere at all then get married in the registry office look for clubs that hite out rooms that can be made to look beautiful and bring in your own caters if the worst comes to the worst and you can't fund anywhere

Im so sorry this has happened.
Maybe you could contact your registras office and ask for names and contact detsils of venues within the area that have the correct civil licence.

Do you have wedding insurance? Have you tried to contact this venue that closed regustding ehat your supposed you do with your wedding in 8 weeks?

Kelbel is right, I think you do need to give notice again with a change of venue as the venue does go on the blue form.

Aww sorry to hear that nicola i heard about it on facebook and thought someone on here had booked there, I always recommend taking wedding insurance out as you never know what could happen there is that many places going under these days. Did you pay anything on cards as you maybe protected via them its worth checking it out. x

I hope you find somewhere soon. Just looking on their facebook and saw a post about getting money back from card providers if you have paid any deposits for the venue on plastic (credit or debit card!) and the trader goes bust. It might be worth a look into if you did, I've heard Martin Lewis on about section 75 before - not sure how much you would be covered but it might be a way to get some of your money back without any insurance. I'll put the link to the money saving website on your wall

Hey Girls

Sorry I didnt get back to u all, I was slightly overwelmed with everything.

Literally flew back in to the uk at 230pm on saturday and went straight to 3 wedding venues lol.

Luckily one of them is amazing and is willing to match everything from Longhirst even down to our menu choices.

So my wedding is now going to be at Doxford Hall! eeeeeeek!

Spoke to the banks and we can get our money back through visa debit or something? Takes up to 21 days, but doxford are being so understanding and are only taking a small deposit and the remainder is just to be paid the week before.

I have had such a hurrendous weekend trying to get it all sorted, I literally feel like I could just breakdown but now that its all getting sorted Im startin to be happier!

We do have to give notice again unfortuantely but they are waiving the fees so there is some money saved!

That's so lucky so happy for you. Reading your plats made me worry for you so glad you was able to sort it. So you able to have the same date or is it different? If they had the same date that's very very lucky :-)
