So me and OH want a ceildh band for our evening reception. We've found a band we like the sound of and that is within our budget, the only problem is that we havent seen them perform live and cant get to any of their gigs anytime soon.

So our problem is to either decide to wait the few months it will take us to get to see them and risk losing them for our date (April 4th 2015 ) or, risk it and book them based on what weve seen on youtube and the praise we've heard about them from other people, but risk losing our deposit if when we go and see them they arent what we expected.

What would you ladies do if you were in our position?

Ask them to hold your date, most are willing to do that if they want your business. Our ceilidh band are more than happy to do that until the summer when we can see them x

One of the staff members at our venue has seen them and said they were excellent. Their fb page is full of praise too. I think I might ask them to hold our date until we get to see them like Catherine had suggested, see what they come back with.

Tbh, most places I have come across have been willing to be flexible and give us a bit of leeway. Weddings are going to be one of their big money earners and they won't want to loose your business by saying no...
