    Hi everyone!

I want to write an article about wedding rings and the best way to find the perfect ones for you.

I want to know what questions do/did you have when buying your wedding rings, what did you want to know, what advice would have helped you?

    Thanks! x

Is it true if you get rings of different metals they will wear on the softer one?
I was told this but a lady at a wedding fayre said that's nonsense!

I am trying to find a matching band for my engagement ring. I had ordered one, but I tried it in my size last week and it doesn't fit around the stones well enough.

So Ive been on a couple of shopping trips, one to jewellery quester B'ham. I have asked a million questions including what (if any) stones I can have added? what setting they will be? Does the designer already make one to match my engagement band? Does the gold have to be the same carat - again like Lana, I have been told different things related to this..... very confusing...

we went for one that we thought would last but that we wouldn't be upset about getting dirty so opted for surgical steel (we are both in scouts and will wear them at camp). I would of liked advice on engraving different materials to personalise, I also would have liked advice on the shapes of rings and how comfortable they are to wear all the time. also different shaped bands and how they sit together, my engagement ring has a square side and the wedding band is rounded for comfort - looks odd at the back but who looks at that.

I was lucky enough to pick my own engagement ring so was able to pick a very straight band like ring so my wedding band will be almost flush I hear people get their rings welded together
our biggest thing was do we need matching rings I wear white gold and silver due to being so pale he prefers gold. The width was going to be very different I wanted the same width as my engagement ring 2mm his looked better 6mm
We where told about the difference between court and d shaped and how one was more comfortable than the other

It isn't so much something I wanted to know, but more of a tip: shop around, particularly at independent jewellers.

If I were to have bought a ring from the high-street with the same carat weight of diamonds and same metal as my ring, it would have cost about £300 more; and that's for a standard 'off the shelf' ring (mine is custom made). We're saving even more than that with OH's ring; we're paying £1380 for a ring that would have cost us about £1800+ on the high-street.

I also think it's useful to know the pros and cons of the different metals, esp the white metals (white gold/platinum/palladium/silver). We went back and forth between platinum and palladium for OH's ring as palladium is literally 1/3 of the cost, but decided on platinum after weighing it up as we prefer the heft and patina. A lot of people don't really know the differences so that would be handy.
