It turns out she's been showing family members her pictures of me in my dress from when we went shopping. I said I know she's excited but to me I wanted to keep it a secret for the day and not to show anyone else I was quite angry but she's said she won't show anyone else.
Am I right to be annoyed? I know I have 17 months yet and they will probably forget what it looks like and I know il look different with all my hair and make up done - but has put a bit of a downer on it at the moment

I wouldn't be very happy either hun, even if I would understand excitement, hopefully she keeps to her promise and doesn't show anyone else! Im sure your relatives would have forgotten in 17months and you most certainly will look different on the day with your hair and make up done. xx

I would be very upset if my mum went round showing people pictures. As long as she doesnt go round showing people any more, I would leave it as it is. You've had words, you have made your point clear. I think you are right that people will forget the details of your dress and it will be a lovely surprise when they see it on the day! I have to remind myself of my dress all the time with my pictures hahaha

Try not let it eat away at you, I'd delete the pic from her phone so she can't show anyone else. Buy the time the wedding comes no now will remember and like you say you will look so different x

I would be very very annoyed. My Mum lives in Spain, and for this reason, I did not send her any photo's. I waited until I saw her, and showed her photo's and a video I took on my phone of my dress.
I had the same issue with my MIL, found out at Christmas she'd been showing people even though when she took the photo of me I made it quite clear she wasn't allowed to show anyone. Anyway I think he realised how upset I was over it and I don't think (I hope) she has showed anyone since. I think you need to trust her not to show anyone now you've had words and I'm sure she wont now she realises she's upset you x

Hun my dress is at my nans house and everyone who's been to my Nan's house she's shown my dress to! I was so annoyed!! I was gobsmacked she thought it would be ok to show people my dress I got my mum to tell her to stop it but by then she'd already shown my aunties all her friends and her sisters! X

Gosh! My mum is really funny baout me showing off my wedding dress! And divulging anything really about the day to people that i know and or are coming to the wedding! Id be annoyed too. She may well be excited but there are ways of showing youre excited without blabbing every secret! ESPECIALLY the dress! Argghhhh ANNOYED for you!

I sort of have the same issue. I've had to tell FMIL to stop showing everyone pictures of the dress that I might want. I just feel it wont be a surprise on the day if most people know what the dress is going to be like. So I don't think you're in the wrong at all. x

My mum keeps calling my wedding 'alternative'. The reason? It's my 2nd marriage and we're having afternoon tea not a formal thing. I think we should sacrifice a virgin or something then she'll have something alternative to think about! And she isn't interested in the slightest about my dress :( Ps I think I'd struggle to find a virgin tho

i would be annoyed too. my mom asked me to send her a picture so she can show my sister in laws and i said no cus i want it to be a suprise. i dont think she has shown anyone but i would be really upset if she had x
