Hi all. Just wondering if there are any other vegans here? I'm actually a lactose intolerant. But only found out by going vegan a year ago. I took a big leap and ditched everything in one go. Best decision I made. My husband-to-be is a Pastry Chef, I was vegan before we met and that didn't put him off, (considering his career is working in top restaurants and cooking with a lot of dairy) instead he has experimented a lot and the desserts he has made for me have been amazing, from sorbets to eggless meringues. He's even going to make our own wedding cake so I can eat it and a normal cake too maybe to see if people can tell the difference. Also my dad is a chef and my mum a catering manager so I've got a lot of help from them. Am hoping I'm not the only one and can offer help and advice to others if needed.

My Mum became a Hare Krishna when I was 12 so she's mostly vegan but can still have milk and cheese - instead she can't have alcohol, onions, garlic or mushrooms. It's been an absolute nightmare talking to venues about her dietary requirements. She remarried about 10 years ago and the venue chefs forgot about her restrictions and she basically had to go the entire wedding day with no food. Sooo paranoid about it happening at our wedding as well that I'm going to have a secret supply of sandwiches in my room or something so that she can still have something to eat at the very least. A friend is making the cake for us and the top tier is going to be an eggless sponge that my Mum is going to make.
