So we went to do final details today and pay the rest of our money and the price we agreed when leaving our large deposit seems to have been a complete lie!
We were told a price when booking but now we are been told that because we booked in 2013 and it's now 2014 we have to pay 2014 prices ??? Has anyone else had this?
I don't understand how they can tell us it's one price when booking and now changed there mind adding almost £600 to the price??
It's only 7weeks to our wedding and I feel so tricked and conned, can't cancel this late and can't afford to lose what we hav paid either. I have no idea what to do other than pay extra but I could honestly cry how can they be allowed to do this?
Feel like crawling into a hole and telling everyone to go away.

I have a receipt for my first deposit but as we hadn't done final numbers etc I didn't have a final total BUT the wedding coordinator gave me a brochure of the hotel and weddding package prices and circled the price for which package we were having and how much it would cost if we had this amount of guests , but today when we went they have a new brochure with new prices on and have told me that because it's now 2014 I have to pay 2014 prices even though I booked in 2013 with the brochure I was given? I feel like I don't have a leg to stand on I'm so upset and angry at same time I don't trust them anymore and feel like they'll have ruined my wedding because I'll be wondering what else is going wrong or what other suprises they have up there sleeve.
    :(

I would jst take the brochure you were given and show them the circled price. We booked in 2013 and are paying prices for that year even though its not in writing.

That's a bit sneaky but not unheard of. I think if ur gonna argue ur case, perhaps state that they knew ur wedding was in 2014 and that they didn't give u anything in writing to say you would have to pay inflated prices?!
Or perhaps contact citizens advice regarding your contract with them, see if there's any legal jargon u could pass on that would scare them a little x

I'm going to ring them tomorrow and email them photographs of my brochure with prices I was given ,will have to think of something really clever to say because I couldn't think fast enough earlier was on spot and just felt myself getting angry and upset she had an answer for everything and at time I was listening wondering if maybe she was right but I've thought about it since we got home and thought no she's not they shouldn't be allowed to do that! I booked in 2013 they knew when my date was and they knew my numbers , the final detail numbers are same as my details when I left the deposit nothing has changed on my side.
If anyone can think of anything clever to say let me know I'll use it tomorrow in my phone call lol x

Unless you have it written into a contract that you were going to be paying the 2013 prices then you haven't got a leg to stand on Hun! A circle on a brochure won't be enough proof as you could have done that yourself! We booked our venue in 2012 but we still have to pay 2014 prices, and I won't know what they are until the end of this month when we have our meeting with them. Unfortunately unless its in a contract, there is no proof that it was ever said, I'm sorry, I know that isn't what you want to hear xxx

When we booked our reception venue last year we were told to bear in mind that prices would probably have increased by the time our wedding comes along (2015) and were told to buget for a 5% increase.

I know this isnt what you want to hear but I dont think theres a lot you can do.Can you maybe negotiate on the additional cost and ask them to throw something extra in for free?

next time u go in ask them again how much it is costing if they still say its 2014 prices tell them u will be talking to Citizens Advice its classed as false advertising coz they didnt say at the start u had to pay 2014 prices but u should really have got a document when u paid ur deposit saying how much u paid and what u where due to pay and what products and services u get included in that price because u dont have that i think they might see in the venues favour but if u feel its unreasonable there is a few things u can do to maybe convince them to meet u half way xxx

We were told when we booked that we would have to pay 2014 prices. They haven't been fair or honest with you, but without a written agreement stating the prices you're going to struggle to argue your case. Worth a try though, if you're polite you might be able to get a goodwill gesture, particularly if they think there's a possibility of you recommending them to others.

Thats really bad, normaly places hold the prices for the year you put down your deposit, or let you know that prices are due to do up next year by X amount! We were told our venues prices may go up £5 per extra guest, but went up £3 and has now come back down according to booklet i got a week ago

We are paying 2013 prices for our 2015 wedding. It is an exclusive venue that hasn't increased it's prices in about 2 years (its expensive enough!), although our contract says 2013 prices it also says that due to inflation and food prices increasing, if these go up by a considerable amount we will be liable to pay extra. I would speak to them. Them saying that is a contract of sorts, it's a verbal contract x

If it's not in your contract then not sure you have an argument though it sucks; the three venues we are deciding between told us straight out that we would be paying 2015 prices :S

They should have sent you a contract when you paid your deposit like the others have said. If they wanted you to pay 2014 prices then they should have made you aware at the time of booking.

That was one of my first questions when we booked as it was 2012 for a 2014 wedding. They said they'd fix the price and my contract has the prices in. I tend to agree with the others, if you dont have a signed argument you may have trouble arguing it :( x

That is aweful! They should have told you that the price may go up. When we were looking at venues some told us if we booked last year, we would pay last years prices, some told us to bear in mind, that we are getting married in 2014 and the prices wouldnt be the same.
Good luck, hun. I wouldnt trust them with anything else now.

as all the other girls have said please look mat your contract ... also look at the receipt you were given when you paid the deposit as i might say what the balance to pay was ..

unfortunately legally they have every right to do this , is cant be classed as false advertising as they didn't indicate in writing that they would hold the 2013 price ( some places will state that if it booked by *** date then you will still pay the current advertised price.
I wish i could tell you that a brochure with a ring around the price would hold up and help you but it wont as someone else said you could have done that yourselves. As it stands it your word against theirs.
