We have really struggled to find a venue big enough for a reasonable price.
We fell in love with our venue & booked it, however we were told they could only seat 120, our numbers are 130 max (including us).
It is a beautiful private school (pics in my albums) that allows wedding receptions to take place during the summer holidays, they only take one booking per weekend so we have sole use for that time. The venue is hall hire only, we are left to do everything ourselves, they haven't seen wedding tables laid out at their venue but we were assured that 130 should fit.
So I have been having a play around with different room layouts & have had a problem with every way I arranged it, but I think I've finally came up with a layout that works. I would really appreciate it if you could give me your opinion on the layout (pic in albums), the top table will be moved after eating/speeches, making way for a 10ft x 40-45ft dancefloor (is that big enough?) & access to the gardens & bar area.

Also the tables are made up using three 6x2ft & one 2x2 table lined up, so the 2x2 table could possibly be removed to make a slightly bigger dancefloor, but ideally we don't want to remove any tables (except ours).

Would you not be removing some tables in the evening so there is more space anyway? If you were to remove the top table and a couple guest tables and spread the others out a bit that would create more space for the evening, otherwise it's going to be a bit busy.
I find if there's too many tables in an evening then the guests tend to stay sitting and don't get up to socialise as much.

Were not having seperate day/evening guests, so we want to keep the change over as simple as possible.
Every wedding I have been to has left the room the same, I would be really annoyed if I was asked to move as my table was getting removed!!
Were having a later ceremony around 4pm, then onto the venue for an informal reception, we will be having a self serve buffet (served in another room) so don't need as much room as a 3 course seated meal would need. If it came to it we could possibly remove one whole row of tables & space out the remaining 5 rows, but it seems like a lot of agro!!

Yeah i can understand what you mean. Your set up is like a big banquet, i'm sure if you do need the extra space then there will be plenty people to help you move it about, like the best man and ushers? (Assuming you have those) but as it looks at the moment it looks fine!
I have seen from weddings that i have been to that they clear a few tables away anyway so that not everyone can sit down, creating more moving around space.
As long as youre happy with the layout and you feel like there is plenty of room then that's all that matters xxx

If it were me i would move the end portion of tables 3/4 outbthe way too, to give a more equal shaped dance floor, but thats just me! Are you having any extra evening guests?
