    Ok, so I'm trying to be cool & calm about this... But as a change from Sunday lunch, h2b suggests we go to our reception venue for lunch instead. I thought it'd be a great idea - have lunch and refresh in our minds some of the details of the venue decor & space, y'know - where to put the sweetie table, where to have the photobooth etc etc.
    I was very pleased to see that they had replaced some of the oblong tables with round ones which will be perfect for the big day.
    So, when ordering our meals, I asked if they were a permanent fixture, as they'd be great for our wedding in July. I also asked when would be a good time to come in to discuss menus.
    So they looked on the system & couldn't find ANY record of any bookings in our name, or on our date. It was as if it was all totally brand new information to them!!
    I left with the nervously sweating manager asking me to send him a copy of the receipt so he can look into it more.
    I'm hoping its in the system somewhere, and trying not to think about the worst case scenario - which isn't easy!

    OMG I would be freaking out! It was something which worried my when we didnt hear from the venue for a while but I figured it was because we booked our wedding for August 2014 in May 2012. I did try to keep in contact with emails asking small things just to make sure they knew who I was. I hope you get it sorted!

    I would be going mad and having the biggest bridezilla freak of my life if they said that to me Its really is a good job your H2B suggested you two go have lunch their Have you found the receipt and emailed it to them or faxed it over I would go in person to be honest to make sure they have all your details and they find your booking =D <3 X No harm in being a bridezilla after throwing that in your face that they have no idea of your booking ;)X

    Yes, we have a receipt stating the date, time of meal and what's included in the price.
    We paid for it a year ago, when they said "come back at the end of January 2014 to discuss the details (menus, drinks packages etc.)"

    My mind is racing... We don't have a plan B!

    It has prompted me to make contact with the wedding venue though - to see how "on the ball" the new wedding coordinator is (who never contacted us to tell us she's now the wedding coordinator - found that out by chance!).

    you have the receipt so take a deep breathe in and i think you should contact your wedding venue as much as you can and your wedding co-ordinator to make sure everything is 100% accurate and you will have the wedding day of your dreams =D <3 X

    That is worrying, but with the receipt they don't have a leg to stand on. It sounds like they haven't been too well organised. Do you have a friend who's good at getting on people's backs and politely complaining where necessary? Some people have a knack for that and it would take some stress away from you.

    I wouldn't worry as you have the receipt - maybe it's just a glitch where you booked last year and were now in the new year and info hasn't been transferred over x

    Ok, so I had a reply from the venue - saying that they'll call me next week to discuss the details.
    But they've not actually been specific about anything, such as if they had record of it or not.
    It seems as though they're willing to honour the booking (and I should flipping well think so!!) but it appears that there's a mix up between old and current managers... Fingers crossed that this is what they mean.
    If not, I'll go all 'zilla on their a$$es ;-)

    Our venue provisionally booked our date with us I rang up four days later to pay the deposit to find out they had given the date to another couple we are supposed to be getting some extras so you definitely should xx

    Some good things have come of the meeting with the venue manager - we've paid, got receipts, the day is still ours. Phew!
    Looks like we had paid significantly less than what is now the going rate - yay!
    The menus on offer are much better & more suitable for a wedding, with more choices - yay!
    The only downside is that they can only offer us part of the venue to set up in on the afternoon of the day before - the rest of 'our area' will only be available from 8pm the night before for setting up - bit of a pain! I'm a bit of a control freak so this will need a bit of thought to try to find someone reliable to maybe finish off the setting up on the wedding morning.

    Actually felt a bit sorry for this manager, who was clearly wondering what other weddings the previous manager had agreed, taken the money for and not told the new manager about!!

    Oh yes, we did get a 'freebie' of sorts - the previous manager gave us prices for how much it would cost us to extend the bar until midnight, 1am, 2am etc. to cover the costs for the application to be made to the council to extend their licence, pay staff more for their wages, admin etc... The new manager raised his eyebrow when we told him this, and said there were no extra charges for a bar until midnight or 1 - we only want it until 12 anyway!

    Phew! So glad it is sorted now. We can only set up our venue the day of, but we aren't getting married until 3PM, so I am hoping that wont be a problem.
