Hi everyone, I wanted to see some other opinions on this as oh and I can't quite come to a decision. I'm Scottish and have grown up in Scotland my whole life. I really love the whole kilts/ceilidh/piper thing and really want them in my wedding. The problem is, oh is Portuguese. He's lived in Scotland for the past 6 years and loves Scottish culture but has never been to a ceilidh! I've managed to get my head round not having one at the wedding because 3/4 of the guests won't even know the dances (half of my family is English) but I can't get over not having kilts! Oh is having two best men, one Scottish and one Portuguese. He's really keen to wear a kilt but we're not sure how his portuguese best man would feel about that... I mean, if we tell him that's what's happening then I'm sure he'd be fine, but I want people to be comfortable. Oh has suggested having the ceremony in a suit and then changing in to a kilt for the evening but it would work out so expensive. I feel that it should either be all in kilts all day or all in suits all day. Another thing is should my Dad and oh's Dad match the groomsmen? Would I need to put them in kilts too? Ahhhh such a dilemma!! I keep thinking of it like this- if I was asked to be a bridemsiad in Portugal, I would want to embrace the Portuguese culture as much as possible! When are they ever gonna be part of a Scottish wedding again? Probably never. I dunno if I'm being a bit bridezilla though! All help welcome, would really appreciate hearing some other opinions. Thanks ladies :) Shannon x

It's up to him, whatever he really wants to wear, he should wear. It's nothing to do with me what my fiance wears. I would love him to wear a mourning suit, but he hates them, and said he will wear a normal suit. I just said I will need to have some involvement with colours so nothing clashes.

I agree, I think he should wear what he wants to wear, but he wants to wear both at different times of day and we just can't afford it! I'm pretty sure if it came down to it he'd choose to wear a kilt, but he might not make that decision because he doesnt want to make his best man uncomfortable.
