"BOUQUET TOSS: The Bouquet and Garter Toss should be done immediately after the Cake-cutting to allow the caterer to cut and serve the cake while you are entertaining the guests. First assemble all of the single girls on the dance floor for this activity. (If there are none or only a couple, then gather all of the female guests on the dance floor to make it more fun.) The bride should stand approximately ten feet in front of the girls, with her back to them. Place the bouquet in your left hand, take a few practice swings (for the photographer), then throw it up and over your left shoulder (don't cross your face with your arm or you will not be seen in the pictures)."
So etiquette suggests that you gather all your single friends into the centre of the room and throw your beautiful bouquet into the throng... ummmm I don't think so. What do you think??
I'm considering having a mini version of my flowers created to "toss"... I'd really like to have mine preserved somehow and keep with a wedding picture. How are you/have you preserved yours??

I don't think I'm doing one; for one, there are only about 10 women who are unmarried, and I find the whole, 'Come on, unmarried women, let's all look at you while you try to catch a bouquet!' thing a bit weird and uncomfortable; then with our venue there are also practical issues (ceiling is quite low, and there isn't much space, so I think it will be awkward to do it properly).

My SIL had a separate bouquet to throw, just made out of garden flowers. I think I will do it, as when I was single I thought it was fun to do, and a bit of a laugh. However I might do it right after the service, as there will be more girls to catch it then. Anyway there are a couple of girls that I will be aiming it at in order to drop hints to their boyfriends :)

I'm not bothering with this at all. Been to 5 weddings this year and none of them have done it either
I'm sure my guests can entertain themselves by going to the bar instead lol
Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey
*Kelbel* is my wedding twinny!
I'm not going to bother either. The last wedding I went to the bride threw it, it went straight towards me and I ran away haha! I am the next one from the group to get married too haha! If I hadn't have run it would have hit me in the head lol. So a bit dangerous in my opinion xx

I'd like to do it, if we choose the church route, we're not allowed confetti so throwing the bouquet, or a simple made bunch of flowers, seems nice to do and fills up the photo album and add something special.
I've never heard of throwing the garter, i've heard of the blindfolded groom retrieving the garter from a sitting bride.
I think also works well with a load of drunk aunts/grannies haha. It's a talking point and gets people ready and up for dancing at the after party.

I didn't chuck mine. Went to 2 Weddings this year and neither of the brides did it.
And, the garter toss I always thought American not British??

No way am I throwing my bouquet - I'm getting something artificial so I can keep it, not sure if flowers, brooches, fabric or buttons yet though.

Im so doing a toss! Not with mine tho, it would probably cause a concussion with the sonic screwdriver on the handle, but im planning when I make my bms posies to make a slightly bigger bouquet for throwing! So I get to keep mine but get to throw that flower grenade into the crowd!

I didn't throw mine, and no-one seemd to notice, I put my bouquet on the cake table when we went in for the speeches & meal and then forgot all about it. i took it home where it was placed into a vase and then died. I got a replica made out of foam & silk flowers which I keep on the dining table.

I'm tempted to do it but I don't think there will be enough women interested in participating :( I've never actually seen one in any of the UK weddings I've attended.

Thanks ladies... I really don't want to throw my bouquet, but 3 of my friends did and they say I should. Talk about peer pressure... oooh I guess I shouldn't worry too much yet xx
CommentAuthorJoanna
I did the tossing of the bouquet but not with my bouquet as it was made out of crystals, I bought a cheap bouquet of artificial flowers and tossed that one instead. It was really fun and everyone enjoyed it. If you're worried about not enough people participating, we had the dj announce it so everyone got up and all the ladies gathered for it, not just the single ones.

You could always create a bouquet to toss so you don't have to toss your actual bouquet - if you're friends are up for it, it should be fun x

I havent really decided yet, but can't see that I will toss my bouquet. In an ideal world I'd want to get mine pressed/preserved but think it can be quite expensive.

I'm definitely doing this!! But I'm doing mine in the evening where more guests are there as not many single girls in the day. I'm one of the last to get married and every single one of my friends threw theirs (well one had a "chucker" bouquet made and one threw a bridesmaid bouquet - I caught that one ;)) I am just going to throw mine as we go straight on honeymoon so I wouldn't be getting any enjoyment out of them anyway xx

I had prob with my garter being too bug so I took it off.decided not too toss my bouquet I would have but wanted to keep it shame it died two days later xx

At my aunt's wedding, which was second time round for both her and the groom, the generation that was involved meant that there were only three single ladies. I was only 19 and had no desire to catch it, but one lady in her twenties ran forward as soon as the bouquet was thrown. If I had tried I suspect I would have been shoved out the way; no one was stopping her from getting it.
