    Hi,
We have been trying to work out timings for everything so we know what time ceremony to go for & what time we require the reception venue from, this is what we have worked out:
2:30 - 3:30pm church of england wedding ceremony
3:30 - 4:10pm quick photo at church, getting everyone on the coaches & to the venue (7 minutes away)
    4:10 - 5:30 arrive at venue, depart coach & have photo's
    5:30 - 7pm buffet for 150 max guests & speeches
7pm bar opens & band starts
11pm bar closes & band ends
Inbetween the bands sets we are planning to cut & serve the cake.
    Does this sound ok??

Also we are allowed to serve our own drinks prior to the bar opening at 7pm (no corkage charge!! Yay), we were thinking champagne for the toast, selection of red/white/rose wine, soft drink options of coke/lemonade/j20/flavoured water & fruitshoots for the children, does that seem ok?

Do we need to provide some sort of entertainment between arriving at the reception until the band starts, or will this time go pretty fast? Our venue has gorgeous gardens which we thought the guests would mingle around in for awhile (weather dependant).
    Thankyou.

Couple comments: first, I'd have some drinks (don't have to be alcoholic) and nibbles for the period of time while the photos are being taken; otherwise, your guests are going to be standing around with nothing to eat or drink for quite some time. Background music might also be good if the venue as a PA system that you can hook an iPod/similar up to, to create atmosphere.

Second, how will the buffet be served? Is it finger food, or a proper plated meal? How many serving stations will there be? I ask because if you have, say, one line of people, it is going to take a LONG time for people to get their food; we had one line at my parents anniversary party for 80 people and I think it took about 20 minutes for everyone to get their food. This could really cut into the time for eating and the speeches, so consider that; you might like to move the ceremony up to 2pm if possible, or start the evening reception at 7.30 pm, to allow for that.

    Otherwise, it sounds good!

    Thankyou for the replies x

Barbie86 - we will have a sort of self serve drinks reception (hopefully have best men & bridesmaids serve the 1st drink) were guests can help themselves to the wine/soft drinks. I didn't think of providing nibbles so thankyou for suggesting that.
Hooking an iPod upto a PA system also is a very good & cheap/free idea, I will definitely be looking into this.
The buffet is self serve finger food we are planning on either having it set out so that people can walk down either side of the buffet table (resulting in 2 lines), or having the same food set out in 2 locations (resulting in 2 lines) or combining both ideas meaning we'll have 4 lines.
