Anyone else using sunbed before wedding? how long before the big day are you starting to go on to get your tan?

ive used sunbeds before and im definitely using one for the wedding (28th March) but just wondering when i should start going back on. im completely fine with going on for 9 mins and ive never burnt and planning on using the same tan intensifier cream that i have used before.

p.s. please please please dont comment that sunbeds are bad for you lol. its just for the wedding and is not a long term thing and im definitely not getting a spray tan and end up either being blotchy or get an orange dress lol. im just too pasty white at the moment xx

I don't see why you need a tan of any kind - I'm pale and intend to still be on my wedding day.

I used a sunbed before my wedding just to have a hint of color, also it was handy to have a bit of a base color before the honeymoon. I started four weeks before the day on three minutes. I went twice a week, increasing the time to six minutes on my third visit, but didn't increase the time any more. On the last week Dan said that I should stop going as I was getting quite a tan ... I did go twice on the last week, but decreased the time to three minutes for those two sessions.

If you have used sun beds before then just judge it with how well you tan

If its march you dont really want to look to brown as will look a bit odd but u just want a base colour surely

Hi beckyu98, I have not used sunbeds before so cant help you there but i to want a tan for my day as my dress is white. Im going to go aboard 2 months before the wedding for a week to top up my tan. My sil has her own spray tan booth so she can do bridesmaids for me if they want it. I dont want to look to pale as my dress lady said with having a white dress i will look really pale.

yeah i want a tan with my dress as i think it would look much better and i dye my hair dark brown so being pale wouldnt be good with dark hair. i wouldnt say that im very pale now but both me and H2B would prefer a tan as it looks good on us both. i prefer using sunbed to tanning outside as i dont burn on sunday and its gradual you can choose how dark you want to go rather then just burning in the sun - oh yeah and no strap marks lol!

think ill start in february and get the tan then just go on once a week to keep it up until the wedding x

I've just been on holiday, and had a (natural) base tan before I went. I intend to maintain my colour for the wedding as I much prefer having a tan; I think it looks better on me.

I plan on using sunbeds between now and the wedding TBH; however, I also have eczema and so I used them last winter (I use low intensity ones) to keep it at bay (worked a treat; no itchy, scabby legs, or thinning skin caused by steroid creams, yay!).

I think it's impossible to advise when and for how long to use them, as everyone's different; my aim is just to see how I go, if I start looking too dark (I want to maintain the colour I have now, not get any darker; atm it's a lovely natural golden colour) I'll stop for a bit and then start up again. I'll probably use the low-intensity ones for about 5 minutes 3-4 times a fortnight.

Like you say becky everyone looks better with something different depending on their natural colouring......
I'm wondering whether I should try to tan a little bit but the thing is im naturally so pale and find it very hard to tan so wondering whether its best for my to stay natural rather than risk being pink :p
    lol

you should try a few 3 mins sessions and see what happens. if you try it now youll have plenty of time before wedding in case you dont like it. i might get my tan ready for xmas then keep topping it up i think x

Im having 6 minutes 3 times a week for 3 weeks before we fly. I burn so getting a base tan should save me from red patches!

I'm thinking of doing 6mins twice a week for about 6weeks ... Maybe less hopefully as I don't like using them and as our wedding is the beginning of sept I'm hoping to get around most of August with strapless dresses and tops (wishful thinking) lol x

My sister used sunbeds in the run up to her wedding as she goes a nice shade. She used them for 6 mins twice a week for two months before the wedding. She was a nice natural looking summery colour by the time of the wedding.

I burn so easily, I have to wear factor 50 in the sun and sometimes I still burn through that. I have every intention of being pale for our wedding in June and hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) I will have no shoulder marks from the sun come time for the wedding!!

I've never used a sun bed but I think what people have suggested would work well. I think I'll just stick to being pale :P I'm hopefully going to Kefalonia though so will get a week's worth of tan in before the day anyway though I don't tan well :S

I love my sun beds, and yes I know its bad for you and people like the natural look ..... I am not one of those people in fact I don't think my hubbie to be has seen me my natural colour due to fake tan and or sun beds !! lol Its a personal choice. I am getting married in 6 weeks, it has taken me a little while to get a base and I am now having 9 minutes twice a week in prep for my hen do on Saturday, I will prob drop down to one a week and then bump it up about 2 weeks before the wedding. Happy Tanning :) xx
