    Hey guys,

I was just wondering if you could all give me your opinion of a reasonable budget for flowers and cake..

H2B is doing the cake totally solo, I won't see it until the day so I want to give him a decent but still reasonable budget.. I know he'll try and do something really special for me and I don't want him to feel he 100% can't because of the budget I set..

And the flowers I want are bridal shower bouquet (silk roses, real lilies), moh posy (all silk), 7 button holes and a medium sized flower basket to place on his mums grave the day after our wedding..

We won't be sorting them out til next year but I'm trying to work out our honeymoon budget and it's hard when I don't know what to budget for these two things..

    Thanks xxx

for flowers - i have been quoted £100 for bridal shower bouquet and approx £40 for MOH bouquet and £25 for bridesmaid bouquets. and i cant remember for buttons holes sorry. That was with a lady that had good prices. however i went with family friend who is doing them all at wholesale price. we have been quoted £270 for wholesale price for My Bouquet, 2 adult BM's, 2 Flower Girls, abut 15 button holes plus a long and low top table decoration. i would say that would normally be double in a flower shop as mine is wholesale price so you have to think about profit for the company. i think you need about £500 for flowers unless you can get a good discount anywhere

as for cake, depends how big you go. my auntie is making mine - its a 5 tier with sugarpaste flowers and im only paying for ingredients at £200 although it will probably be a bit cheaper than that. my auntie always says when you have got the ingredient price then double it to get your profit and the time it takes you to make. i would say £300 would be enough for a 3 tier cake - i have read somewhere that its approx £100 per tier.

why dont you go and do some google searches or go and see florist and cake maker for some ball park figures so you get a good idea. obviously you can do it cheaper than the prices i have put here but i think these are average prices xx

oh and over budget a little for everything as you will have either missed something out or dont realise how much the little things are - and besides how great would it be at the end if you end up with some spare cash for a little extra something x

I think your best to get as many quotes for what you want as i find prices are soo different everywhere. I was quoted £800 up to 1k for my cake lool and even then most tiers would have been dummy cakes, I have always known the exact cake i wanted. I was then prepared to make it myself well try(still would have worked out alot). I then found a lady a couple of weeks ago at a wedding fair her 10 tier is £375! (feeds 175, pic in album) and she then said il show you my other one. So went to another fair the week after and she had the exact cake i always wanted set up for £495(all vanilla flavour). All real cakes aswell (pic in album). I get to choose from 35 flavours and it would work out appox + £60 if say i wanted each tier a different flavour. (Its all fresh fruit in the sponge cakes aswell). my sil paid £400+ for her cake and it was 4 tier quite plain, decs wise and the bottom one was a dummy cake. So i think this just goes to show if you look around the prices are so different. She and my sis couldnt believe my cake for the price iv paid or the other 10 tier. Im not sure with flowers as i made my own as my mum cant be near real flowers for health reasons. So i used foam roses, My bouquet, 3 b/m's bouquets 7 buttonholes 2 corsages and top table flowers cost me under £150 and didnt take long to make at allxx

I bumped the budget brides thread that lists what some others have paid for their cakes. As for what you spend, it should be what you can afford. Search on the Bay for flower packages or even the book of face for packages.

Ooo if only your cake lady loved nearer !! Lol.. The cake people H2B liked at our last wedding fayre were constantly being jumped on so he didn't get chance to ask prices.. Think he has the leaflet for the website though...

One of the tables I saw was £475 for a 5 tier that fed 250 people... We only need about 100 servings.... H2B didn't like their stuff though an I think thought that was actually cheap for the servings but not sure... Xxx

Ooo thanks.. We'll have around £2729 to fit the cake, flowers and honeymoon in to Sarah..
There is a possibility that I've found a way to make a little extra money and a tiny possibility we may get money from FiL for Xmas which the majority of will go into the wedding fund... So maybe add £300-£1400 on top of that, depending on if / how much I can make and if / how much FiL gives... Lol.. xxx

Mrsh2b, My cake lady said that nearly all cake companys slices are different sizes aswell so it makes it so hard to know what you are getting for your money, she showed me what a company would normally class as a slice and its the size of your finger lol (tiny) My h2b couldnt believe it. My lady gets booking from as far as essex lol because people dont want to pay the prices up there for what they want.

I have no idea :-( we can't agree lol.. H2B wants to go to canada but I want a private villa with a private pool and those are far too expensive in canada... Plus I know every single day would be jam packed but I want some relaxy days too...
I thought Lanzarote but H2B says noone he knows liked it so that's out...
We thought about Orlando and do the theme parks but the villas are miles and miles away from the beaches and everything else......

So yeah, we're stuck haha... I want luxury but not the kind that the word honeymoon seems to entail like personal room service, all inclusive etc...
Found a villa in Greece I want sooooo bad but it's £6000 for villa, flights and car... But we don't have that budget at all !!! Xxx

Oh big fat rubbish pants !!!!! I just realised I've not budgeted for hair and nails !!! :'(
From the quotes I've got, hair will be about £80 for me and MOH and my nails will be £25....

Honeymoon is getting less and less luxurious by the minute :'( I so so hope FiL gives us money for Xmas like he has past 2 years ! Money toward the wedding would be even better ! Never going to get as much as he gave his granddaughter though xxx

our 5 tier cake serves around 250 people but we are probably only going to have about 160 at the evening when im serving it. im going to make sure that they save me some for snacking on honeymoon :) also not cutting the top tier as its fruit and going to save it for first christening and all that.

the money you have put for cake and flowers looks about right though xx

MrsX2b ive just uploaded pic of our cake in my albums. it will be a 5 tier cake (White Chocolate, Chocolate, Red Velvet, Vanilla and Fruit). Spiral set up but with Sugarpaste roses (purple centres faded to white) instead of the flowers pictured. theres a great site called cake centr@l which has millions of pictures of cakes on there for some inspiration which is probably where i found this one. i love it xx

thanks! i love it just hope it turns out just as nice as the pic looks. the purple will be darker to match in with BM's dresses - more like a plum colour but i just want the cake to be pretty plain. I know it was exactly 6 months left on Saturday and we dont have much left to do now. just waiting for fittings and doing all my stationary at the moment then i will probably have nothing left to do :( xxx
