good that you spotted the rules hun.
regarding saving cash, ISA'a area good way to save, looking at finances and placing your takeaway money in your ISA aswell as any random spending money. If you drink or smoke then trying to cut down by putting that money in an ISA is also a good way to save. Keeping your heating off for as long as possible this winter is also good. I refuse to put mine on & tell the kids to wrap up in blankets instead.
also buying stuff as you go, so find the guest book you want, save the money for it, then buy it, then find the BM's dresses you want, saving, then buying, etc. just work to one thing at a time, save the big things like venue, catering etc until last.
DIY as much as possible. I have made all my flowers, stationery, gift box, etc myself. My flowers have cost £10, Stationery = £30 approx (invites, OOS, Tissue pouches, RSVP cards), gift box =£5 (used old cardboard box from moving house, paid for sticky back plastic, ribbon, flower, split pins, padlock & latch). I am also making my favours (guest scrolls, parchment paper, rings & a poem = £10 approx)
for everyones birthdays I am making cakes leading up to the wedding in the hope I can get good enough to make my own cake. This will work out about £80 (tins, mix, icing, ribbon, stencil, edible paint etc) rather than £250. although my nan has just given me her cake tins which will knock off about £30-£40 of the estimated price.
BM's dresses were just maxi dresses from the bay for £5.49 each, I have bought velcro & ribbon in order to add a bit of colour to the dresses.
My boys will wear their school uniform meaning I only need to buy them a plain blazer rather than an entire suit. their ties were only £1.79 off the bay.
I used an online company for my veil, this was made in the UK from the company that makes them here. this was very cheap & has a discount code to get 10% (i think) off the total price.
It is do-able to save the money. I now have nothing to buy except the blazers & h2b's clothing. I now only have the big things like venue (masonic hall £160 all day including bar stewards), catering, ceremony fees etc. By doing most things yourself you can save alot of money.
I realise you may have been asking for competition help, however I hope the above helps you too.
Find out who you are & do it on purpose!

also whilst i think about it, if you want something different for your wedding shoes/lingerie there is a website that does £5 for everything. I'm waiting for them to get the colour I want for my shoes, they have the style, just not the right colours atm, will even be requesting BM's get their shoes from there too.
Some great ideas Katya - thanks, been saving away all the money i definitely don't need to spend but still not being completely strict enough! Moving house soon too so really trying to save!!
Very brave doing the cake yourself - think i might rope in the future MIL to do that one! This website sounds just the ticket? Do you know what its called/what i could google to find it??

I do know what its called however due to forum rules cannot say the exact name, hence I have worded it the way that I have, if you unrestrict your profile (my details, make profile public) then I can post the link on your wall.
If I told you what to google, I would be giving you the name of the site.... just think about how you can move the words around lol

Thanks for moving.... It was in competitions as it was a whole different question to start with - then i saw the rules and realised i couldn't do a 'vote for me' discussion so deleted the offending article and changed the question!
Any other budgeting/money saving tips would be greatly appreciated... Just about having a nightmare deciding everything!!
