I'm not sure about your church but ours won't let us! We have to choose two hymns from a list he's given us. We've gone for the two people are most likely to know!!

Wow he gave you a prescribed list?? That doesnt seem fair!

I think my church would let us- no harm in asking!

Speak to your church, but usually they don't allow secular music or "pop".

As far as I know most churches won't allow 'non hymns' for the actual service xxx

I don't think the church will allow it tbh. They usually let you choose but it has to be a hymn xx

Generally they don't allow secular music during the service. Have you asked the vicar?

Generally it will be a no, however, approach them with a list of reasons why eg. means a lot to me and the hubby etc and they may make allowances. Normally it is dependent on the vicar at the church as it is them conducting the service it will be down to their individual tastes but don't be surprised if you have to choose hymns. If they are unco-operative on this, my suggestion is try and find an organ version and ask the organist to play it as you walk out. I've often played for weddings (on the organ) for couples who have done this.. It's not what you want exactly but it is a compromise so suggest that if it's an outright no. Ask the organist though :) xx

Oh, great idea! you can enjoy your wedding at church in the way you want but you will have to take permissions from them as they do not allow for it. My brother had his wedding in this style, I remember he ordered beautiful wedding invitation cards to make his wedding unique and special. what about you wedding plannings ??

Hi thanks ladies I will ask the vicar when we see him. To be honest it was my way of cost cutting as the organist is extra on top of the service charge and neither if us like the sound of an organ so are a bit reluctant to part with cash!!
I may look into having a pianist for the service.
Do vicars allow secular music to walk down the aisle to and sign the register to?? I have already picked my song which means a hell of a lot to us both (it was by his mums fave singer and she suddenly passed away in may so its our way of having her with us).

    Xxxx

Tbh, a pianist is probably going to be a lot more than an organist. Generally organist only charge about £50 per service which isn't a lot in the great scheme of things. Try listening to proper organ music on YouTube rather than the crappy stuff that is quite often publicized :) xx
