    hi girls,
those of us who are getting married abroad, what are you doing about transporting your dress? i really dont want to part with it and put it in the hold but it looks like im going to have to as its far too big for hand luggage and wont even fit in a box small enough for the size restrictions. so it will have to be a suitcase, trouble is i cant find one big enough for my dress also, my underskirt is huge-anyone know where i can get a big, hard case?
im worrying myself about it, and i would die if it got lost!
i think i might just have to wear it on the plane and get h2b to sit on his own!!!!

some airlines let you hang it up in the hold, in its dress bag if you ask them in advance i think. I looked into getting married abroad nd remember reading something about it :) who are you flying with? check their website for their terms and conditions :)

    Good Luck

thanks for your help girls, im pretty sure thomson dont let you hang dresses in the plane-''fire hazard'' apparently, i doubt my dress will fit in the overhead compartments but im going to be checking when i go and try my dress on again next week xx

I got married in St Lucia and was the same - refused to put it in the hold where it could get lost / crushed ect.

I just got a dress bag and put it in that and I had it as my hang luggage (were lucky enough to be able to take 2 pieces each). I was expecting to have to lay it down in the overhead locker but one of the staff offered to hang it in a coat cupboard for me which was nice <3 but even if they don't have them most airlines are nice enough to hang it in the staff area for you - My sister had this done with hers on Virgin years ago.
