Have fallen in love with a venue but it's £3400 and then we would have to get caterers in and provide drinks ourselves etc. It just seems an awful lot just for the venue with no add-ons and they charge this figure all year round. We are looking to do it next November/December which most places don't have a lot of bookings for because it's considered off peak. It doesn't help that about a year and a half ago they were charging over a £1000 less than they are now!
Just looking for peoples thoughts on the cost and whether you would go for it anyway or downscale or if you think we should be able to negotiate. Atm they aren't budging.

My bro is paying £4000 for just the venue, and then to hire the ceremony is £500 extra.. Then extra for everything else too.. Personally I wouldn't go for such a package.. I'm getting absolutely everything for £5800 ish (final amount not confirmed until final numbers and have already reduced guest list so will go down).. Inc food for day and eve, wine on tables, all venue decoration, exclusive all day hire, canapés, arrival drinks, DJ and all that goes with him too.. For around 70 day guests and 100 evening..
But as I said, that is what my bro has gone for so people do do it Xxx

I think it all depends on your budget and how much you like the Venue. Sadly, the "W" word bumps everything up so you need to know what is realistic for you as a couple.

It depends on your budget, and what you want from a venue?
We are paying £2600, + £500 for venue and ceremony.... When we add food in, and wine, evening hog roast, for our 80 day guests and 130 evening guests we are looking at £8700. This does not include any form of venue decoration, registrar costs, centrepeices, flowers etc.... But it was what we wanted, we personally didn't like the package deals other venues offered, and our venue didn't offer them... But We fell in love with our barn, that we can do anything with, its come at a cost, thankfully we can afford it.

If you have the cash to splash and absolutely love it and can't think of anything better... do it!
If you have a strict budget, I wouldn't personally. £3400 is a lot of money just for a place to have a party.
There are good places that you'll get better value money for. If its in the winter, then most of it will be inside and essentially it'll just be a party in another room of another venue people will remember, so ultimately, just the party. The £3400 could be spent way better on entertainment, booze, good food, or other luxuries for yourself... or just stashed away for your married life!
I say shop around, but its up to you.
And we lived happily ever after!

I have just booked my wedding for next august and ours is only 1995 for wedding breakfast 3 course for 41 guests and evening for 110 people with buffet, dj and room for the day. I didnt want to spend alot and its how you make it and the people that are around you on the day... plus the dress
Good look with finding a venue xx

It depends on several factors I think.
If it means you're going to be sacrificing and compromising on other areas then for me personally it would be too much...after all, whilst it is nice to have a stunning venue, it is the day as a whole people will remember.
We don't have any room hire costs, because we're having it at a hotel so there making there coin on the catering and drinks xx

mines is £3671 but that's including a free day at the spa one week before the wedding, all food and drink and chair covers

I paid 3500 and it included food and 3 drinks per guest and the mc the cake stand the seating plan printed the room all day for the ceremony right through to 1am the bridal suite. It does sound a lot hunni just for a room. I was going to get married in a Scottish castle and that was £1000 and included a champagne reception.

It does seem to work out a lot more expensive when you have to organise the food/drink separately. If you can afford it then go for it!! If you 're not too sure then maybe look at a few more venues and compare? You may find one you love more! Xxx

We originally wanted to pay no more than £6000 for the venue including the wedding breakfast and drinks package but we fell in love with a venue which came in at £10,300 we have managed to get them down to £8,500 with everything included but in the breakdown. its says the actual hire of the venue is £3000. We spoke about it with my mum and dad and have decided we can afford it with a bit of extra help! I couldn't see myself getting married anywhere else because it is just perfect for us so we have gone for it!!! I would say discuss it and follow your heart, it is your big day and it has to be right!!! xx

Our venue is £5000, but that includes exclusive use of the building and grounds, ceremony, reception, 3 course wedding breakfast, drinks and canapes, wine, evening buffet, table linen etc, wedding planner, and 14 bedrooms including the choice of two honeymoon suites and a breakfast in the morning. I think we got a pretty good deal considering the beautiful location. I'm very pleased :)

we looked at some venues like that too but in the end we decided to go with one that as everything all in as was so much easier then trying to organise everything separately

My venue costs £3500 standard hire charge on a Saturday + food, drink, decoration and £500 for the ceremony room, we were looking at £7250 for 50 day guests including food, drink etc. We fell in love with the place and so decided to book a Sunday wedding, they do packages for off peak weddings which means we have got everything all in for £ 3200 a massive saving and I still have the venue of my dreams ! hope you get it sorted soon xx
