As some of you know, I've had lots of issues with diamonds falling out of my bridal set and I got so fed up with the jewellers repairing it that I requested a completely different bridal set which I picked up less than 2 weeks ago... I woke up this morning to find ANOTHER diamond had fallen out! I have been to the jewellers today for a refund. I am so upset and frustrated with the whole situation and I feel like its ruined the memory of the 'engagement' because I've had nothing but trouble with it. I wouldn't mind if it was an inexpensive set but it cost quite a bit of money, even with discount.

To cheer me up, my H2B took me to an independent jewellers to design me a new engagement ring. I want to be excited but I'm just drained from the experience with the other jewellers.

Sorry for the rant Ladies & Gents, just wanted to get it off my chest
    Xx

That is shambolic! Name and shame... have they given you a reason as to why they are coming out? Perhaps it's the metal? The problem with any ring that has a full channel set diamonds all the way roundis they they have to fit perfectly and be tensioned correcty in the jewellery... I hope you've been given a full refund.

I feel absolutely deflated about the whole thing. They said they NEVER get any complaints about diamonds falling out and gave an insincere apology (said 'sorry' and then tried to refund my H2B only £999 - which is LESS than he'd paid for it - lucky he checked the amount on the card reader!) I will never shop in 3RNEST JON3S again.

Thats a shame as I always rated them. Ive gone with their 'sister company' so hope they are better! Id still complain as it may be a design fault they need to rectify.

I've always been happy with jewellery I've had from there and that was the reason H2B bought the first bridal set from there but since March we've had to return 4 or 5 sets due to missing diamonds.

I'd still complain if it was me, like CharlieBe-Cool said it may be a design fault, but also the way you treated you is out of order to give an insincere apology and then try to refund you less!?!, I'd be seething and would've given the assistant a piece of my mind! atrocious behaviour! xx

I used to work at said jewellers and i would push it with Head office, i know it wont fix the experiance you have had with the rings but it would be worth pushing it. Often when there are problems such as this its down to the manufacturers of the item , E J do not manufactuer their own jewellery so it can be hard to determine quality over the obvious - ie type of diamonds etc. Channel set stones need to be exteremley tight , did you have the rings sized at any point or do you have small hands ? i have small fingers and know now that tension set channel stones do not work well in my size, ive had two seperate rings with the same problem as you. I hope you can get some resolve and find a new forever ring - good luck xx

when I first got engaged (not to the guy I'm now married too), my engagement ring was from there, white gold, sapphire with two diamonds either side. It was too big so they ordered me another (I didn't want it resized) but let me keep the original one until the replacement came in, the metal bent - like a cheap silver ring - and then a diamond fell out. I went in to complain and they said they were sorry. The new ring came - tried it on, perfect size, they asked me to take it off to polish for final time and, as I held it by either side to push it off my finger - exactly the same thing happened again, it bent like cheap silver. I went ballistic (husband to be then was on deployment). Manager came out to try and diffuse the situation and said that I must be that 'Uri Geller' person who can bend rings - oh was that the wrong thing to say!!!. I cleared the shop. He offered to get me another - I refused - he then offered me an alternative ring at the same price - again I refused and got one more expensive. He then said that he hoped he'd see us for our wedding rings - again wrong thing to say. I can honestly say that from that day (which was in 1985) to this, I have never set foot in that jewellers again and I never will.

I agree that they do not manufacture jewellery in house - but that's no excuse to sell shoddy workmanship.

    xx

It's a shame you've had problems with them. My engagement ring came from there as well and I've had no problems at all (had it almost 4 years now and wear it for everything as well).

oh i 100% agree about the poor quality i was not trying to justify it - sounds like your previous ring has brittle gold, this is more common than its acceptable really and its not caught until someones dream ring is ruined. Dosent sound like you have been given the experiance that i would have expected from such a high value purchase or any purchase at all - i would deffo push Head office, at least if you get vouchers or anything you can spend on something else and i would get the full refund and go else where - Not sure where you are based but the jewellery area in B'ham is amazing and hundreds of stores which will make exactley what you want - you even get to chose your loose stone which makes for an amazing experiance :) - good luck i hope you get it sorted soon x

My first E ring came from there and I too had problems.
The Sapphire came out the ring, which I had replaced.
Then 2 months later it happend again.
I had it replaced again but refused to wear it on a daily basis as it upset me so much.
We did split up and I actually went to sell the ring.
I had someone look at it and they told me one of the small diamonds was missing!!!

It's a horrible thing to happen and I really feel for you.

But, how exciting having a ring made for you!!!
    Enjoy your new ring!!!

    :-)

I have a couple of dress rings from there and haven't had issues, but I only wear them occasionally. I've seen a few reviews from people who've had the same issues as you, so I'm sorry to hear this :-(

What I would say is that it's great you got a full refund, and I would try to move past it and focus on your new ring. Also, you will get WAY more 'bang for your buck' with an independent jeweller than on the high-street. I went with a jeweller in Hatton Garden for my ring, a 0.66 TCW cluster in platinum. EJ had one with a smaller TCW (0.49), thinner, smaller setting, and far inferior specs, for over £200 MORE than we paid for my (bespoke) ring. I future, I'll likely only buy from the high-street if it's a cheaper piece; for diamond jewellery I will now only use independent jewellers where I can pick the specs and get way more for my money.

So, while obviously this was a bad experience, try to see the positives, and focus on designing your new ring :-)
